Success for Pembrokeshire young farmers

Published

on

young farmersTHERE WAS PLENTY of success on the menu for Pembrokeshire young farmers at the Wales YFC Entertainment Feast.

Clynderwen YFC hot footed it to Llandudno for the disco dancing competition, which they took by storm, winning by a huge 11-point margin. They will now go on to represent Wales at the national finals during the NFYFC annual convention in Blackpool in May, where they will be hoping to emulate their success last year when they were crowned national cheerleading champions.

The main course of the weekend was the entertainment competition finals, where clubs from counties all over Wales took to the stage with their half-hour variety show productions. Representing Pembrokeshire were Keyston YFC, who had endured a 30-year wait to win the county eliminator and take part in the Wales final. And the wait was well worth it as Keyston were placed second overall, just four points adrift of winners Llanbadarn Fynydd YFC, Radnor, with Lawrence Hancock winning the best actor award.

Meanwhile, Eglwyswrw YFC were placed fifth in the Welsh language entertainment competition. Also during the weekend, a former member of Pembrokeshire YFC was named Wales YFC’s senior member of the year. Lowri Fflur Davies was a member of Tiers Cross YFC from the age of 11, before moving away and joining Neath YFC in Glamorgan in 2010. The television researcher, producer and director has made the most out of every level within YFC, from competing in varying competitions for her local clubs to international travel.

Elizabeth Anne Beauty Salon and Prendergast Kids Club recently join forces to raise vital funds for local Charity.
Stephanie Tee owner of the salon based on Albany Terrace, Haverfordwest decided to start fundraising for Paul
Sartori Hospice at Home in memory of her dear friend Peter Green. Prendergast Kids Club held a successful raffle,
which had some fantastic prizes, whilst the salon raised money through their loyal customer base.

In total the two parties raised a total of £505.00 for Paul Sartori to use towards their range of services for
Pembrokeshire people living in the final stages of a life-limiting illness, including home nursing care, equipment loan, complementary therapy, bereavement and counselling support, under 18’s anticipatory grief and bereavement
support, physiotherapy, advance care planning and training.

Stephanie Tee said “I am extremely grateful to everyone who has donated towards this fantastic local cause,
especially the children and parents at the kids club and all of our regular salon customers. We have raised much
more than I originally expected” The services provided by the Paul Sartori Hospice at Home enable people in the later stages of any life-limiting illness to be cared for and to die at home with dignity, independence, pain free and surrounded by those they hold most dear, if that is their wish.

“Elizabeth Anne Salon and Prendergast Kids Club have raised a fantastic amount to help Paul Sartori and we are
extremely grateful for their support. It is through the generosity of local people and businesses that we can continue to provide this much needed service for anyone in the later stages of a life limiting illness within Pembrokeshire.”

Said Mandy Jones, Management RN at Paul Sartori Hospice at Home.

All of the services are free of charge and are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, thanks to the generosity of the Pembrokeshire Community. Further information on the charity and its services can be obtained by visiting their website www.paulsartori.org, or by phoning 01437 763223.

Evans.

Goodwick’s selection Windows of the World earned special praise from adjudicator Paul
Holland, particularly for the percussion section and trumpet soloist Rhys Evans.
The band also earned compliments from brass band website 4BarsRest who commented:
“The youthful Goodwick band once again showed that they are building another generation
of players to be proud of.”

This year, Goodwick were conducted by Gareth Ritter while musical director Matthew

Five people in Manorbier are celebrating today after winning £1,000 each thanks to their lucky postcode.

The Wheelers Way neighbours netted the windfall when SA70 7TU was announced as a Daily Prize winner with People’s Postcode Lottery on Monday 24th February 2020.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt sent her well-wishes to the winners. She said: “What brilliant news to start your week! Congratulations to our winners.”

A minimum of 32% of ticket sales goes directly to charities and players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised over £500 million to date for thousands of good causes in Britain and beyond.

This draw was promoted by the Wildlife Trusts which have received over £11.3 million in funding from the players of People’s Postcode Lottery. The Wildlife Trusts look after more than 2,300 nature reserves and operate more than 100 visitor and education centres across the country. The Trusts work to make life better for wildlife, people and future generations.

Many good causes close to the winners have also benefitted from players’ support, and local charities can next apply for funding in August.
