Elly’s Flag Appeal gets Games Galore!!

Published

on

Nine-year-old Elly Neville, a Year 5 pupil at Pembroke Dock Community School and her Elly’s Ward 10 Flag Appeal went along on Monday 23 rd September to Puffin Ward (PACU) at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest for an "Amazing" presentation. Earlier this year we, at Elly’s Ward 10 Appeal, wrote to Hasbro Gaming asking for support towards our fundraising. Hasbro very kindly offered Elly to donate toys and games to our local children’s services and with support from Hywel Dda Health Charities it happened – Hasbro have donated 174 games to be distributed across all Hywel Dda Health Board sites.

Sandra Jones, Play Service Manager said: “As Play Service Manager within the Women and Children's Directorate, I would like to thank Elly's Ward 10 Flag Appeal and Hasbro Gaming for the donation of games and toys. Children and young people visiting or admitted to
the Puffin Unit at Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest, Cilgerran Ward at Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen and Angharad Ward at Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth will benefit from such a very generous donation. The vast array of games and toys will also be shared with Speech and Language, Physiotherapists and many other Community staff within the Hywel Dda University Health Board. The donation will enable us to provide the extras that make a stay or visit to hospital a more positive patient experience and I would like to thank you once again for thinking of us.”

Elly said, "I am really happy that we have been able to help children. I love helping to raise money for Cancer Patients on Ward 10 but it is great to be able to help children who have to be in hospital when they are ill." Elly and her family are continuing to seek donations via their Just Giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Ward10Flag and please give our Facebook page a like – just search – Ward 10 Flag.

Tenby: Police investigate overnight burglaries and theft

Published

on

POLICE are investigating two burglaries and a theft which occurred sometime overnight 9th/10th August in Tenby.

At approximately 2am this morning the RNLI lifeboat station, on Castle Hill, was broken into and money taken from the charity donation box.

Sometime overnight the padlock on the charity box for the Shipwrecked Mariners Society on Castle Square was broken and money taken from within.

Also overnight a window was forced open at the Denis Café, Castle Beach, and the till was missing. The till was later found with the money removed.

PC Garland said: “The three incidents are currently being linked. Having to close to deal with the clean-up of this type of incident is difficult for any business but especially so at this time. The two charities rely on donations to keep going and being a crew member of the Tenby Lifeboat I know what important work they due for the local community and for visitors who get into difficulty in the sea. I would appeal to anyone with any information to come forward and contact police.”
