Assembly Member visits childcare centre in Milford Haven

Published

on

HAPPY DAYS Childcare Centre in Milford Haven were delighted to have a visit from Welsh Assembly member for the Conservative Party, Suzy Davies on February 7.

The minister, along with her colleague Stefan Rysewski, was given a tour of the setting and spent some time with the children and staff.

During her visit Ms. Davies was interested to know how some government initiatives were affecting Early Years and the Private Sector. Topics discussed included Use of Welsh Language, the new Apprenticeships Programme, Staff recruitment, Funding and Mental Health Schemes for Staff and Children.

Debbie Forrest, one of the owners of Happy Days commented that the visit had been very enjoyable, and how Ms Davies had been very responsive to all points raised giving her a better understanding of the challenges facing private businesses which she could take back to the assembly.

Happy Days Childcare Centre in Milford Haven and Haverfordwest are owned by Debbie Forrest and Helen Mathias and have been operating in Pembrokeshire for almost 30 years. Both settings offer a variety of services for children up to age 12 in order to support families with their work/life balance and childcare needs.

Elizabeth Anne Beauty Salon and Prendergast Kids Club recently join forces to raise vital funds for local Charity.
Stephanie Tee owner of the salon based on Albany Terrace, Haverfordwest decided to start fundraising for Paul
Sartori Hospice at Home in memory of her dear friend Peter Green. Prendergast Kids Club held a successful raffle,
which had some fantastic prizes, whilst the salon raised money through their loyal customer base.

In total the two parties raised a total of £505.00 for Paul Sartori to use towards their range of services for
Pembrokeshire people living in the final stages of a life-limiting illness, including home nursing care, equipment loan, complementary therapy, bereavement and counselling support, under 18’s anticipatory grief and bereavement
support, physiotherapy, advance care planning and training.

Stephanie Tee said “I am extremely grateful to everyone who has donated towards this fantastic local cause,
especially the children and parents at the kids club and all of our regular salon customers. We have raised much
more than I originally expected” The services provided by the Paul Sartori Hospice at Home enable people in the later stages of any life-limiting illness to be cared for and to die at home with dignity, independence, pain free and surrounded by those they hold most dear, if that is their wish.

“Elizabeth Anne Salon and Prendergast Kids Club have raised a fantastic amount to help Paul Sartori and we are
extremely grateful for their support. It is through the generosity of local people and businesses that we can continue to provide this much needed service for anyone in the later stages of a life limiting illness within Pembrokeshire.”

Said Mandy Jones, Management RN at Paul Sartori Hospice at Home.

All of the services are free of charge and are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, thanks to the generosity of the Pembrokeshire Community. Further information on the charity and its services can be obtained by visiting their website www.paulsartori.org, or by phoning 01437 763223.

Holland, particularly for the percussion section and trumpet soloist Rhys Evans.
The band also earned compliments from brass band website 4BarsRest who commented:

Five people in Manorbier are celebrating today after winning £1,000 each thanks to their lucky postcode.

The Wheelers Way neighbours netted the windfall when SA70 7TU was announced as a Daily Prize winner with People’s Postcode Lottery on Monday 24th February 2020.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt sent her well-wishes to the winners. She said: “What brilliant news to start your week! Congratulations to our winners.”

A minimum of 32% of ticket sales goes directly to charities and players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised over £500 million to date for thousands of good causes in Britain and beyond.

This draw was promoted by the Wildlife Trusts which have received over £11.3 million in funding from the players of People’s Postcode Lottery. The Wildlife Trusts look after more than 2,300 nature reserves and operate more than 100 visitor and education centres across the country. The Trusts work to make life better for wildlife, people and future generations.

Many good causes close to the winners have also benefitted from players’ support, and local charities can next apply for funding in August.
