Police say 11 year old abduction “did not happen”

dyfed-powys-helmetDYFED-POWYS POLICE have released a statement to dampen rumours on social media that an 11-year-old boy was the victim of an attempted abduction in Pembroke Dock on Sunday (Sept 21).

Since Sunday evening, Facebook and Twitter have been flooded with comments and reaction to the alleged incident, which has prompted concerned parents to contact The Herald.

Today (Sept 23), The Pembrokeshire Herald received the following statement from police: “On the evening of Sunday September 21 police were informed of an attempted abduction of an 11 year old boy in Pembroke Dock. The incident was reported to have occurred at approximately 7pm that evening on Dimond Street junction with Lewis Street. The suspect was described as a Pakistani male driving a white van.”

The police statement said: “Following extensive enquires police can now confirm that this incident did not happen.”

SEPARATE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

The police continued: “We are continuing to investigate an incident of attempt assault on a thirteen year old girl which occurred in Bush Street Pembroke Dock at approximately 7.30pm on Tuesday September 2 and involved a small white van and two Asian males. As part of the ongoing investigation into the Bush Street incident police are continuing to check local CCTV and to trace anyone who was in the vicinity at the relevant time.”

DCI Dave Guiney, who is involved with the investigation, told The Herald: “I would like to reassure the community that every effort is being made to identify the males in the Bush Street incident and would urge anyone with information to contact the police.”

Dyfed-Powys Police would like anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information that could assist the enquiry is asked to contact police by calling 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

    It’s strange how people reacted – I saw lots of comments on twitter and facebook, lots of comments shared, lots of words used to describe what the poster would do or should happen to the perp and it never happened.
    Contrast that story with the one that DID happen which Pembrokeshire County Council apparently did very little apart from sacking the social worker who flagged it up to her bosses.
    I really hope that those ppl who got angry about a rumour actually get interested in local politics, look into the IPPG, their councillor and see what he did or didn’t do in this ghastly story and vote!

Hakin motorist banned after driving 14 times over drug limit

A HAKIN motorist has been banned from driving for three years after being caught behind the wheel with cocaine and benzoylecgonine in his system.

Mark Briskham, 53, of Waterloo Square, Wellington Road, Hakin, was stopped by police on January 5 as he drove a Ford Kuga along Steynton Road, near Milford Haven.

Blood tests carried out at the police station showed he had 800mcg of benzoylecgonine in his system. The legal limit is 50mcg.

He also had 64mcg of cocaine in his system. The legal limit is 10mcg.

Briskham pleaded guilty to two drug-driving charges when he appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court this week.

Magistrates disqualified him from driving for three years, taking into account a previous drug-drive conviction from 2020.

He was also fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £48 surcharge.cr

Begelly man remanded over alleged May Day assault

A PEMBROKESHIRE man has been remanded in custody following an alleged May Day assault against a woman in Begelly.

Tomas Baker, 34, of Ty Dee, New Road, Begelly, is accused of assaulting the woman, causing actual bodily harm, at an undisclosed location in Begelly on May 1.

Baker appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court this week by video link from Swansea Prison.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

His trial will take place at Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on June 22.

Waterston man denies child rape and sexual assault charges

A WATERSTON man has appeared before magistrates charged with 13 sexual offences against children, including three allegations of raping a girl under the age of 13.

Chaisee Price, 25, of Biggins Hill, Waterston, Milford Haven, appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court this week.

He faces three charges of raping a girl under 13, eight charges of sexually assaulting girls aged between five and eight, and two charges of intentionally inciting girls under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

The offences are alleged to have taken place between 2014 and 2019.

Price denied all charges.

Because of the seriousness of the allegations, magistrates declined jurisdiction and the case will now proceed to Swansea Crown Court on July 10.

Price was released on conditional bail.

The conditions include a daily electronically monitored curfew between 6:00pm and 6:00am, no contact with the prosecution witness, no unsupervised contact with children under 18, and a requirement to surrender his passport to police.
