Lewis Baker was fined £600 after admitting driving with 52 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath

A VAN driver has been banned from the roads after admitting drink-driving in Johnston.

Lewis Baker, aged 34, of Mostyn Road, Stourport-on-Severn, appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on Monday (July 27).

The court heard that Baker was driving a Ford Transit on Bulford Road, Johnston, on July 2 when he was found to have 52 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Baker pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle while over the prescribed alcohol limit.

Magistrates disqualified him from driving for 12 months and imposed a £600 fine.

The ban may be reduced by 13 weeks if Baker completes an approved drink-drive rehabilitation course by February 26, 2027.

He was also ordered to pay £85 towards prosecution costs and a £240 victim surcharge, bringing the total financial penalty to £925.

The court ordered that the amount must be paid in full by August 24.

Two separate allegations that Baker had failed to surrender to court bail on July 21 were withdrawn. A warrant previously issued in the case was also withdrawn.

James Belton had been accused of driving at 32mph through a 20mph limit in Houghton

TWO motoring charges against an Ambleston man have been dismissed after the prosecution offered no evidence.

James Belton, aged 58, appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on Monday (July 27) for a scheduled trial.

Belton had been accused of driving a BMW X5 at 32mph through a 20mph limit in Houghton, near Milford Haven.

The alleged offence was said to have taken place at approximately 9.33am on October 21, 2025.

According to the charge, the vehicle’s speed had been recorded using laser equipment.

Belton also faced a separate allegation that he had failed to provide information identifying the driver of the BMW when requested by Dyfed-Powys Police’s Safety Camera Unit on October 28.

However, the prosecution offered no evidence in relation to either allegation.

Both charges were subsequently dismissed by the court.

An order was also made for Belton’s legal costs to be paid from central funds, with the amount to be assessed.

Stephen Jones will return to court next week after his sentencing hearing was adjourned because he had been called into work

A MILFORD HAVEN motorist has admitted driving at 97mph on a busy Pembrokeshire road.

Stephen Jones, aged 35, of Prioryville, appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on Monday (July 27) for sentencing.

Jones had previously pleaded guilty to exceeding the 60mph speed limit on the A4076 at Dredgmans Hill, Haverfordwest.

The court record states that Jones was driving a Hyundai Kona along the single-carriageway road at approximately 2.31pm on October 18, 2025.

His speed was recorded by laser equipment at 97mph, some 37mph above the legal limit.

Jones entered a guilty plea on July 8 and was due to be sentenced on Monday.

However, the hearing was adjourned at his request after the court was told that he had been called into work.

He must return to Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court for sentencing at 10.00am on Monday, August 3.

Jones has been warned that the court is likely to proceed in his absence should he fail to attend without a valid reason.

Magistrates will also consider whether to impose a driving disqualification.
