Major rescue operation in Milford Haven involving helicopters and lifeboat
A MAJOR multi-agency rescue operation unfolded in Milford Haven on Thursday afternoon (May 1), with two helicopters, lifeboat crews, police, and paramedics responding to an emergency involving a casualty near the Port Authority jetty.
The Coastguard helicopter and Wales Air Ambulance were both deployed, with the Air Ambulance landing at Milford Haven Rugby Club shortly before 3:30pm. Medical staff were then transported from the landing site to the jetty to assist in the ongoing incident.
The casualty was being treated aboard the Angle lifeboat, which was moored at the jetty. An ambulance was on standby nearby.
A police boat was also at the scene, supporting the coordinated effort involving HM Coastguard, RNLI, Dyfed-Powys Police, ambulance crews, and air support.
As of 4:00pm, the operation was ongoing and no further details have yet been released regarding the nature of the incident or the condition of the casualty.
The Wales Air Ambulance said in a statement: “We attended an emergency in the Milford Haven area on May 1.
“Our Caernarvon-based crew arrived on scene, by air, at 15:12. Our involvement concluded at 16:03.”
The Herald has contacted the relevant agencies for further information.

Why we report on emergency incidents
At The Pembrokeshire Herald, we understand that emergencies involving injury or loss can be deeply upsetting for those involved — and we never take reporting on such events lightly.
However, when an incident takes place — especially involving multiple emergency services — it becomes part of the public record.
Our duty as a local news organisation is to inform the public accurately and responsibly about what is happening in their community.
We always strive to report:
- Factually – based on verified information
- Sensitively – without speculation, intrusion, or identifying casualties unless confirmed and appropriate
- Responsibly – avoiding sensationalism and respecting the dignity of those affected
We believe that good journalism serves the whole community — by keeping people informed, holding public services to account, and reflecting the events that shape our lives here in Pembrokeshire.

Four deny murder of Caerphilly teenager
FOUR people have pleaded not guilty to the murder of a 17-year-old boy.
Ricardo Elliot, aged 27, Connor Palfrey, aged 24, Elexi Manny, aged 24, and Georgie Mears, aged 18, appeared before Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on Friday (March 20), where each denied killing Tristan Shae Kerr.
Emergency services were called to a property in Abertridwr, Caerphilly, at around 5:45pm on Wednesday (Feb 5) following reports that a teenage boy had suffered serious injuries. Despite efforts, Tristan was pronounced dead at the scene.
The court heard that the teenager is alleged to have been attacked with a so-called “zombie knife” measuring approximately nine to ten inches in length.
During the hearing, the four defendants spoke only to confirm their personal details and enter their pleas.
A trial is due to begin on August 3 and is expected to last around six weeks. A further pre-trial review has been scheduled for July 24.
All four defendants were remanded in custody.
Paying tribute after his death, Tristan’s family described him as a “deeply loved son, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend.”
They said he was quick-witted, with a love for motorbikes and adventure, adding that he had a natural energy that lit up every room and drew people towards him.

Defendant admitted using Xbox without informing police as required under court order
ANTHONY COOMBES, aged 26, of Sand Banks, Broad Haven, appeared before Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (Mar 20) charged with breaching a sexual harm prevention order.
