Felinfoel 31

tenbyrfcA LAST minute try from number 8 Pat Roberts gave Tenby a fantastic victory over Felinfoel, a side above them in the league. Felinfoel’s Aled Roberts scored 10 early points, as he scored a try, converted it then added a penalty before Tenby’s Jonathan Rogers kicked two penalties. Felinfoel then scored another try before Tenby winger Jordan Asparassa slid over for a converted try, leaving the score 17-16 at the break.

Junior cricket round up

LLECHRYD under 11s played host to a travelling Haverfordwest team recently in the Pembroke County Junior League.

The opening Haverfordwest pair of Robbie Sterling and Harri Atyeo did very well against the quick bowling of Flo Cartwright and accuracy of Alex James. With a boundary for each and some good running between the wickets.

Oscar Patrick, was keeping wicket for Llechryd for the first time showed great skill behind the stumps and looks like a natural.

Olly Hicks and Megan Bateman were the next pair out. Some sharp fielding from Llechryds Charlie Pardoe was needed to keep the runs down. Dewi Morris also managing a maiden in his only over before taking over the gloves at the halfway stage of the innings.

Imogen Hicks and Osian Mills were now at the crease. After a few tight overs Isobel Dunkeld was on to bowl the 12th. Mills took a liking to this, launching a massive 6 over square leg. Dunkeld held her composure and followed up with a great wicket.

The final pairing, Ed Raymond and Deri Field knew they needed to add vital runs. Field showing bravery returning to bat after a nasty knock. Cerith Gill and Callum Pardoe bowled in tandem to do their best to keep the score down. Haverfordwest finished the innings on a respectable 257.

Llechryd decided to open the batting with Cerith and Oscar. Haverfordwest showed their intent, taking 2 wickets in the first 3 ball with one being a run out after some sharp fielding. Cerith responded with a classy cover drive for 4.

Next in was Alex and Callum. There was no end to the action with wickets falling and the ball sailing over the boundary.

The duo of Charlie and Dewi marched in to bat and the action didn’t let up for a minute. With quick running and boundaries momentarily interrupted with a stunning catch in the deep from Haverfordwest’s Harri Atyeo.

It was still all to play for when Flo and Isobel came to bat as the final pairing. Some classic cricket shots by the batsmen and cracking fielding highlighted the skills on display from both sides.

The Llechryd innings came to a close on 274.
