COURT HEARS APPLICATION MADE TO DISCHARGE ORDER

A PEMBROKESHIRE man has been sentenced after being found inside a woman’s home despite being banned from contacting her.

Peter Bromley, 51, of Parc y Chwarel, Fishguard, was made subject to a restraining order by Haverfordwest magistrates on February 26.

The order prevented him from having any direct or indirect contact with Rhiannon Bowen.

But on April 8, police received a call claiming Bromley was present at Ms Bowen’s address in Fishguard.

Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court heard that when officers arrived at the property, Ms Bowen initially denied that Bromley was there.

However, when officers gained access to the property, they found Bromley inside the kitchen.

This week Bromley pleaded guilty to breaching the restraining order.

He was legally represented by solicitor Tom Lloyd, who told magistrates that Ms Bowen had recently begun proceedings to have the restraining order removed and discharged.

“Considerable progress has been made by the defendant in various areas of his life,” said Mr Lloyd.

Bromley was fined £200 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and an £80 surcharge.

He must also complete a 12-month alcohol treatment requirement.

SENTENCE ADJOURNED FOR PROBATION REPORT

A 23-YEAR-old motorist has been given an interim driving ban after admitting he was over the drink-drive limit when he damaged a bicycle in a collision.

Ajay Mathias was driving his Ford Fiesta along the A478 at Allensbank on April 8 when he collided with the bicycle.

Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court heard that subsequent breath tests showed Mathias had 44 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

Mathias, of Min y Llan, Letterston, appeared before magistrates this week where he pleaded guilty to drink-driving and failing to stop after a road accident.

Sentencing was adjourned until April 30, when magistrates will consider a probation report.

Mathias was released on unconditional bail until that date.

RESTRAINING ORDER IMPOSED

A HAVERFORDWEST man has been made subject to a restraining order after stalking a woman who lived in the same block of flats.

Steven Delahuntey, 54, of The Whitehouse, Upper Market Street, Haverfordwest, was convicted after trial of stalking the woman between January 17 and February 6.

Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court heard that Delahuntey had contacted Dyfed-Powys Police on several occasions in an attempt to carry out welfare checks on the victim. He also turned up at her address and sent her numerous unwanted messages.

In a victim impact statement read to the court, the woman said Delahuntey had initially appeared friendly.

“Initially he appeared nice and would talk to me about general things,” she said.

“But then he told me not to contact him again. I don’t know why he said this as we’d never been in a relationship. He was also critical of me, but I don’t know why as I’ve never done anything wrong.”

The victim said Delahuntey told her to grow up and warned her not to get involved with “bad people”.

“This made me feel bad as I began to realise that he may not be quite as he portrayed himself to be,” she said.

“I’m not afraid of him but I’m constantly anxious about him being unpredictable. I just want him to leave me alone.”

Delahuntey was convicted at trial before Haverfordwest magistrates on Monday, March 30, and returned to court this week for sentence.

Mitigating, solicitor Peter Tarr said Delahuntey suffered from anxiety and depression following difficult childhood experiences.

“These transitioned into his adulthood and have had a big impact on him,” he said.

Mr Tarr said there had been no further contact between Delahuntey and the victim, despite them living in the same block of flats.

“There have been no further issues and he’s actively trying to find new accommodation, but he’s struggling,” he said.

After considering a probation report, magistrates sentenced Delahuntey to a 24-month community order.

He must complete 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days and a 12-month alcohol treatment requirement.

He was also fined £180 and ordered to pay £650 prosecution costs and a £114 court surcharge.

A two-year restraining order was imposed, preventing Delahuntey from having any direct or indirect contact with the victim.

Three prisoners accused of refusing to give police phone PIN codes

FOUR DEFENDANTS WILL APPEAR AT SWANSEA CROWN COURT NEXT MONTH

THREE prisoners have been charged with failing to disclose the PIN codes to their mobile phones after being remanded in custody on suspicion of conspiracy to supply drugs.

Ahmed Al-Farraji, 25, Leon Haines, 26, and Kalum Haines, 22, are each accused of failing to comply with a Section 49 notice after allegedly refusing to provide the codes when asked to do so by police officers.

A fourth defendant, Mili Davies-Blewett, 26, faces an identical charge following her arrest on February 27.

All four defendants appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court this week.

Al-Farraji and Davies-Blewett both denied the charge. No pleas were entered by Leon Haines or Kalum Haines.

Magistrates declined jurisdiction due to the seriousness of the case, and the matter will now proceed to Swansea Crown Court on May 18.

Davies-Blewett, of Tan y Bryn, Burry Port, was released on unconditional bail.

Al-Farraji, Leon Haines and Kalum Haines were remanded in custody.
