Morwenna is a ‘massive addition’ to the community

[L to R]: Barry John MBE with Morwenna Pitkin of The VC Gallery
THE HERALD spoke to Morwenna Pitkin on Wednesday (Feb 15), who is part of the most recent addition at The VC Gallery.
Morwenna is a holistic therapist who is also qualified in bowen therapy, and has been offering treatments to those attending the VC Gallery on a weekly basis.
Speaking to The Herald, she said: “I first started training in 2013, and started training soldiers off my own back. I went to Barry in 2014 and went to an armed forces open day. I began reading people and their body positions when they were standing, and I approached them to ask if they wanted a free therapy session.
“I could see things in them that only their doctors knew, and I had to help.
“I ended up having two sergeants and another third soldier, and I treated them there and then.”
Morwenna says that she wanted to “give something back,” and feels that soldiers don’t get the help that they sometimes need, so took it upon herself to do something about it.
Originally from Aberporth, Morwenna came to Pembrokeshire after joining Healing Hands, and went on a Fab Camp where she helped families that were suffering familial military bereavements in Cornwall. She treated 30 children and 20 adults.
Founder of the VC Gallery, Barry John MBE, went to Porthcawl and spoke to somebody about hiring a person to deliver therapies to the people who attended the Gallery. Morwenna said: “Barry was looking for someone to do it and asked me. It’s only 45 minutes away, so I did it!”
When asked how important she thinks the therapies are, she said: “I think it’s very important. The therapies allow people to have their own space and talk about anything they want to. It’s something that allows people to offload their problems and walk about feeling better about themselves.

Holistic therapy: Morwenna conducts her therapy in a relaxing environment
“Since being at The VC Gallery, I’ve built up trust and connections with people, who are now regulars every week.”
Speaking about Morwenna, Barry John MBE said: “What she was brought to the Gallery is a diverse term of one to one engagement. We cover art and welfare, but she brings a new element to individuals with her holistic treatments.
“She gives people the chance to express themselves in other ways, besides what we give them. Morwenna being a part of the Gallery has been a massive addition to the community.”
He continued: “The beauty to her involvement is that she will engage and help the elderly veterans, physically disabled and also mentally disabled, with a kind and caring nature.”
“I’m very grateful for what she provides, and as The VC Gallery grows, I’m proud that she is a part of it.”

A total of £597 was raised on the night, which will be shared equally between the two charities.
The Service thanked the congregation at Ebeneser Baptist Chapel for hosting the event, as well as everyone who gave their time, support and generosity to make the evening such a success.

Castle Inn fun runners back festive charity event
THE ANNUAL 3 Amigos Christmas toy bike run is under way this afternoon (Saturday), with hundreds of motorcyclists setting off from Pembroke to raise funds for children’s services.
Riders gathered at The Commons car park in Pembroke from around midday before departing shortly after 1:00pm. The festive convoy is travelling along its traditional route, taking in Pembroke Dock and continuing through parts of the county including Neyland, Milford Haven and Haverfordwest.

Special delivery of thanks as MP visits Haverfordwest sorting office
Christmas cheer for posties working through the festive rush
A CHRISTMAS message of thanks was delivered in person this week as Preseli Pembrokeshire MP Henry Tufnell paid a visit to Royal Mail staff at Haverfordwest Sorting Office.
The MP met postal workers during one of the busiest periods of the year, praising staff for their hard work in ensuring cards, parcels and gifts reach homes across Pembrokeshire in the run-up to Christmas.
Mr Tufnell said postal workers were going “above and beyond” throughout the year, but particularly during the festive period when demand is at its highest and delivery rounds are often made in challenging weather conditions.
He described postal staff as “unsung heroes”, highlighting their role in keeping communities connected and helping families stay in touch at a time when it matters most.
Speaking after the visit, Mr Tufnell said: “Our posties play a vital role in our community, and at Christmas that importance is felt more than ever. They work incredibly hard to make sure gifts and cards from loved ones arrive safely and on time.”
Staff at the Haverfordwest site were pictured alongside the MP, with some embracing the festive spirit in Christmas jumpers and seasonal outfits while continuing their daily work.
The MP also extended his thanks to postal workers across the whole of Pembrokeshire, acknowledging the dedication required to keep services running smoothly during the seasonal rush.
Royal Mail experiences its highest parcel volumes in December, with thousands of additional items passing through local sorting offices each day as Christmas approaches.
