Milford earn vital win
MILFORD United are now just five points from safety after they came from behind to beat relegation rivals Saundersfoot 2-1 at Marble Hall on Saturday (Feb 23).
It was a game in which Milford were desperate for the win but it got off to a disastrous start as a 25-yard free kick, powerfully struck by Corey Hill, beat Robins keeper Jack Nicholas after an awkward bounce.
The home side could have been two down just minutes later as Jeff Marsh fired wide.
Milford then settled into the game and started playing some excellent football.
Ashley Mathias and Garin Gardner were prominent on the ball and asking questions of the Saundersfoot defence.
On the half hour mark the home side were deservedly level after some nice play by Harry Nicholas and Gardner set Liam Parr away on the left hand side and he surged into the box and played a perfectly weighted pass for Lewys Tee who made no mistake at the back post.
Tee then forced a top save out of Saundersfoot goalkeeper Sam Franklin.
It remained level until half time but early in the second half, Saundersfoot were determined to try and re-take the lead as they forced some smart saves out of keeper Nicholas.
As the game wore on Milford became more dangerous on the counter and they finally took the lead with ten minutes to go.
Morgan Picton’s fierce shot struck the bar and bounce down to Parr who pounced to head the ball home at the second attempt.
The game ended on a sour note as Saundersfoot midfielder Nick Cope picked up a red card after an altercation with the referee Gareth Elliot.
The Robins held on for a valuable three points which moves them nine points clear of bottom side Herbrandston, but, more importantly, just five points behind third from bottom Saundersfoot.
On Saturday (Mar 2), Saundersfoot are not in action while Milford face the side just three places above them as they travel to Narberth for another crucial game.

brunch clubs.
Harry Thomas, aTrustee at Bluebirds Foundation said:
“We are extremely grateful to Lloyd & Whyte for further enhancing the funds raised at
our Foundation Fundraiser, held at the Ogi Bridge Meadow in collaboration with
Haverfordwest County AFC and we look forward to working closely with Lloyd & White again at future events.”

“Events like this show what community is all about. I think it’s great what the
Bluebirds foundation are doing locally for Pembrokeshire, and it was a pleasure to be
a part of it. Being part of Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking and the Benefact Group

on doing great initiatives within our community.’’
The funday event saw bouncy castles, cake stands, a raffle, shirt swap stand, kick-up
