Totally Welsh set for expansion

Published

on

LABOUR AM Eluned Morgan and Parliamentary Candidate for Preseli Pembrokeshire Philippa Thompson have visited a Pembrokeshire business to hear more about its plans for growth amid the continuing uncertainty over Brexit.

Totally Welsh, started operating in 1990 and is based on the Withybush Industrial Estate. The milk brand and daffodil emblem is a familiar sight in independent retailers across Pembrokeshire and beyond.

The company is unique in that all of the milk comes directly from farms within a forty mile radius of the bottling plant Haverfordwest, supporting farmers in Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire.

During their visit, Eluned and Philippa met with local manager, John Horsman for a tour of the facility and to discuss support for local farmers and the impacts of a ‘no-deal’ Brexit on local business.

Eluned Morgan AM said: “I was delighted to visit Totally Welsh, a company that supports local farmers that benefits the Pembrokeshire economy and reduces food miles. It is possible to buy milk that has not been processed in England which is naturally good for environment too. Like many other businesses I have visited in recent weeks, Totally Welsh is preparing for the prospect of a crash out exit from the European Union. Whilst there isn’t an issue over the milk, the packaging is all imported from Europe. Like many other businesses they are now having to plan contingencies to keep their business operational which for Totally Welsh means stockpiling bottles to ensure supply to customers. The Welsh Government is continuing to support businesses in Wales and local companies must act now, if they haven’t prepared for October 31.”

Totally Welsh produces milk, butter and cream for sale in retailers across Wales from petrol retailers to small supermarkets. Aware of changing consumer trends, the company is also looking at other markets across South Wales with a return to glass bottles and doorstep delivery.

Philippa Thompson, Parliamentary Candidate said: “Totally Welsh is an incredible Pembrokeshire business with exciting plans for their home delivery service focusing on fresh Welsh products. I wish them every success with their expansion plans which safeguard jobs in Wales and create new ones.”

Welsh Lib Dems welcome proposals to remove misbehaving politicians

Published

on

THE WELSH Liberal Democrats have welcomed the news that Welsh voters could replace misbehaving politicians.

Welsh Lib Dem leader Jane Dodds MS has voiced her support for a report that proposes the removal of Senedd members caught breaking the code of conduct.

The code of conduct sets out the standards of behaviour expected of an MS.

The report, from the Senedd Standards of Conduct Committee includes plans for a referendum style system where voters could decide if an MS who broke the rules should be removed.

Welcoming proposals to remove misbehaving politician’s, Welsh Liberal Democrat leader Jane Dodds MS said that it would be “ a great move for Welsh democracy.”

“This proposal, which would greatly improve the voice of the electorate, will provide us with a platform to make real change.

We’ve already seen how similar measures introduced by Liberal Democrat’s across the UK and in Westminster have strengthened our democracy, Wales cannot be allowed to fall behind.

As a party we have been pushing for a reform of our political systems so we can bring power back into the hands of Welsh Voters.

The Welsh people deserve to have politicians who hold the best interests of their community to heart.

Wales is crying out for a change in the way things are being run, which is why more and more people are joining the Welsh Liberal Democrat’s to help make this change a reality.”
