Classical Crossover Stars Richard and Adam Coming to Pembrokeshire
NARBERTH & WHITLAND ROTARY are delighted to confirm that top Welsh Classical Crossover Singers Richard and Adam are coming to headline their Grand Charity Concert this autumn.
The concert, originally scheduled for October 2020 has been rearranged for Saturday the 9th October 2021 at the Follies Theatre, Folly Farm and will also feature Whitland Male Choir and the winners of the Rotary Pembrokeshire Young Musician Competition.
Welsh brothers Richard and Adam first burst onto the nation’s TV screens on Britain’s Got Talent, making it to the final in 2013 performing their classical crossover version of ‘The Impossible Dream’.
The show established them as two of the greatest vocalists singing opera in this country.
They credit their ‘Nan’ as being their biggest influence. When they were young she played music by Enrico Caruso, Mario Lanza and The Three Tenors and she encouraged them to sing along, building their confidence and encouraging them to follow an opera career. They honed their craft, playing live gigs and performing with the Birkenhead Operatic Society. When they won a local talent competition, the offers came flooding in and they began performing professionally on cruise lines before their big break on Britain’s Got Talent.
Having made it to the final, the boys signed a record deal and have since had a number one album, ‘The Impossible Dream’ that remained at the top of the charts for four consecutive weeks, breaking UK records. A sell-out UK tour followed and a number five charting album titled ‘At The Movies’ that competed with international artistes including Dolly Parton! Their fourth album ‘Believe’ again reached the top 10 in the UK charts and was number one in the classical charts.
Richard and Adam have also had the opportunity to perform at the prestigious London Palladium and Olympic stadium, and more recently at the Liverpool Empire, where they received standing ovations on ‘Britain’s Got Talent Big Celebration’ with acts such as Susan Boyle and Paul Potts.
As they start a new chapter, and with the increasing commercial appeal of classical crossover and musical theatre genres, Richard and Adam are focusing on their future and will once again be touring all over the UK with a brand-new show.
Rotary Club of Narberth & Whitland President, Rotarian Elaine Bradbury said that the club is both honoured and delighted to have such a popular and much liked duo to headline their concert in aid of The Wales Air Ambulance and other charities supported by Rotary in the year ahead and speaking this week Adam Johnson said on behalf of the brothers that they are really looking forward to coming to Pembrokeshire.
Tickets for the concert, which are sure to be in great demand are now on sale and can be bought online at www.nwrotary.co.uk and also for cash at local outlets, Dales Music Shop, Tenby; Rock ‘n Rolla Boutique, Narberth and The Creative Cafe, High Street, Haverfordwest.

Unforgettable Pembrokeshire hotspots to explore this Christmas
Pembrokeshire has a huge range of events that you can attend over the Christmas period. With scenic views and plenty of cosy experiences, it’s important to know what events are being held so you can make the most out of your trip.
Nightlife during the festive period
Traditional establishments in towns like Pembroke Dock and Fishguard often host live bands, quiz nights and holiday menus. Some venues even offer gaming machines for those who like to try their luck. The Lobster Pot Inn is an ideal spot with multiple games machines, including a claw machine, that you can try your hand at. Since Pembrokeshire doesn’t have a large-scale casino like you’d find in other major cities, if you’d prefer something less physically hands on, you have the option of signing up with an online bet casino that includes games such as 20p Roulette, Blackjack Classic, and an array of online slots. Whether you prefer the physical thrill of the catch with a claw machine or the apprehension from watching your virtual card being drawn, there is something for everyone in Pembrokeshire.
Christmas markets and celebrations in Pembrokeshire
Tenby’s Tudor Merchant House hosts an annual celebration to commemorate the Christmas period. The seaside town looks fantastic at this time of year, with plenty of local craft stalls, entertainment, and food vendors. You can also visit Pembroke Castle, for more Christmas-themed activities. Narberth is also known for boutique shopping, with plenty of festive charm. There you can expect to find handmade crafts, seasonal goodies and a full Christmas market.
If you want a more scenic experience, you may enjoy a festive walk in Newport. People often go stargazing there, and it’s not surprising to see fireworks displays held as the nights grow darker. Just make sure you wrap up warm because Pembrokeshire is on the coast, you can expect strong gusts of wind, which can make the chill feel worse than it is. With that being said, you’ll have an unobstructed view of the stars, which is a great way for you to finish off a night of fun.
Events and ticketed experiences
If you’d rather attend an event, there are many to choose from. Llys y Fran is held between the 7th and 8th of December, with a charming market full of decorations. The St Brides Spa Hotel also gives people the chance to enjoy afternoon tea and a Christmas feast. This is being held on various dates, with the final bookings taking place on Christmas Eve. You’ll need to pay in advance if you want to be able to take part in this, as it’s very popular and places are booking up fast.
The Torch Theatre, which you’ll find in Milford Haven, is also known for hosting a range of festive performances. This includes live shows and concerts. As November comes to an end, you can expect to see even more announced for the festive period, so keep an eye out. Theatre Gwaun in Fishguard also hosts a range of festive film screenings, suited to those who want to do something relaxed and enjoyable.
Other options include the Picton Castle Christmas Lights. This event is held throughout December and if you book a ticket, you will be able to go and see the various light displays that are held there. In winter, the whole place becomes a wonderland, with enchanted experiences suitable for everyone. Sometimes there are additional seasonal activities that you can take part in. This includes themed tours and seasonal crafts, however, more will be announced as time goes on. You can usually book tickets online, which makes it easier to plan your experience.

Choir brings Christmas cheer to Pembroke Castle
COLOURFUL choristers filled Pembroke Castle with festive spirit during its Christmas Fayre on Saturday, November 30.
Dressed in an array of Christmas jumpers, ties, and Santa hats, the Pembroke and District Male Voice Choir delighted visitors with a programme of 12 songs, complemented by leading several beloved carols.
Musical Director Juliet Rossiter conducted the choir, ensuring their performance ran smoothly. Accompanying them for the second time was the Rev William Lambert, the choir’s new accompanist who has quickly become a valued addition.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, two members of Cor Meibion De Cymru joined the choir on stage for a rousing rendition of American Trilogy, marking a memorable conclusion to their set.
As 2024 draws to a close, the choir plans to bring joy to three local residential homes before taking a well-earned break. Practices will resume in January, and new members are warmly encouraged to join.
Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays at 7:00pm at St Teilo’s Church Hall, Pembroke Dock. Interested singers can contact Choir Secretary Dave Powell on 07572 080401.
