Plea hearing held for Saundersfoot man’s harassment and assault case

AT HAVEFORDWEST Magistrates’ Court, a plea hearing was held on May 24 for the case involving George McBeth, a resident of Saundersfoot.

The court session addressed charges of harassment without violence, assault by beating, intentional strangulation, attempted criminal damage, and making threats to damage property.

The charges against McBeth, who is 28-years-old, stem from incidents that allegedly occurred between February 27 and March 19, 2023, in Pembroke Dock.

It is claimed that during this period, McBeth pursued a course of conduct amounting to the harassment of a female. The prosecution argues that McBeth made indirect contact with the alleged victim through a third party, shouted and directed comments at her on Bush Street on March 9, and sent a letter intended for his youngest daughter via his mother, enclosed in a colouring book, on March 19.

During the plea hearing, McBeth pleaded not guilty to all charges. The allegations include assault by beating, where McBeth is accused of physically assaulting a female on February 28, and assault by beating against a further female on the same day.

Furthermore, McBeth faces charges of intentional strangulation of a female on February 28, attempted criminal damage to Ridley’s mobile phone on the same day, and threats to damage or destroy property by threatening to smash all the TVs in that person’s house on February 28.

The courtroom was filled with legal professionals, including the defense solicitor, Tom Lloyd, and the prosecution representative, Ann Griffiths. Presiding over the proceedings were Magistrates Mr. J Ross, Dr. R Talbot-English, and Mrs. M Smith. The court recognized the seriousness of the charges, leading to the decision to proceed with a trial.

It should be noted that the recent court hearing on May 24 was solely a plea hearing, during which McBeth entered a not guilty plea for all charges. The next hearing, which is expected to be the trial, will be scheduled to take place at a later date.

ALL PETS VET CARE is beginning a new chapter as ownership of the practice passes from founder Billa Schleicher to experienced local vets Alice Richards and Pete Howe.

The change will ensure the practice remains independently owned and firmly rooted in the Pembrokeshire community.

Alice and Pete have both worked as small animal vets in Pembrokeshire for more than a decade and say they are proud to build on the strong foundations already established at the practice.

They have pledged to continue providing compassionate, gentle and fairly priced veterinary care, with every animal treated as a valued member of the family.

The existing All Pets Vet Care team will remain in place, meaning clients will continue to see the same familiar faces and receive consistent, high-quality care.

Alice and Pete said the team’s longstanding relationships with clients were central to the practice’s success and that they intended to support and invest in staff as the business develops.

Alice said: “It is a privilege to take on All Pets Vet Care. There is a wonderful team here, and we are committed to maintaining the same personal and caring approach that clients and their pets know and trust.

“Remaining independent means we can stay close to the needs of our clients and the local community.”

Pete added: “We both care deeply about Pembrokeshire and the people and pets who live here.

“We want every client to feel supported, listened to and confident that their pets are in safe hands.

“That includes continuing to provide our own out-of-hours care for registered clients, so pets can be seen close to home by a familiar and trusted team when it matters most.”

All Pets Vet Care is one of only a small number of practices in Pembrokeshire to provide its own out-of-hours service for registered clients, offering continuity of care during evenings, nights and weekends.

The practice will also continue supporting local wildlife charities Tinkers Hill Bird Rescue and The Hogspital, which cares for sick and injured hedgehogs.

The partnerships have formed an important part of Billa’s legacy at the practice and will continue under the new owners.

Alice and Pete said All Pets Vet Care would remain an active part of the community, providing trusted advice, continuity of care and a genuinely personal service to pet owners across Pembrokeshire.

As the practice looks to the future, its commitment remains unchanged: providing trusted, compassionate and independent care for local pets and the people who love them.

Milford Haven EarthCam back online after brief technical issue

MILFORD HAVEN’S popular EarthCam is back in action following a brief technical issue.

The camera, positioned on top of the Pembrokeshire Herald building at 11 Hamilton Terrace, provides panoramic views across the town, marina and the Milford Haven Waterway.

The live feed captures shipping movements and changing weather conditions along the Haven, with striking views towards the refinery and energy terminals further upstream.

Viewers can also follow the progress of the new block of flats being constructed on Charles Street, on the former Motorworld site.

The camera has proved popular with residents, former Pembrokeshire residents living further afield, maritime enthusiasts and visitors keen to check conditions around the town and waterway.

Torch Theatre reveals full Sunset Cinema line-up for summer 2026

Outdoor screenings will take place at waterfront and historic locations across Pembrokeshire, including Milford Haven, Saundersfoot, St Davids and Pembroke Castle

DECKCHAIRS, blankets and picnics will be at the ready as the Torch Theatre’s popular Sunset Cinema returns for another summer of outdoor screenings.

The 2026 season will take audiences from Mackerel Quay in Milford Haven to Saundersfoot Harbour, Tŵr y Felin in St Davids and the spectacular surroundings of Pembroke Castle.

Working with media partner Pure West Radio, the Torch Theatre will tour Pembrokeshire with a large LED screen designed to provide a clear picture in daylight and in changing weather conditions.

This year’s programme includes family favourites, Hollywood classics and blockbuster adventures, with screenings of Finding Nemo, Back to the Future, Shark Tale, Jaws, Jurassic World, The Greatest Showman, How to Train Your Dragon and Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet.

The season begins at Mackerel Quay on Friday, July 17, with a double bill. Finding Nemo will be shown at 2.30pm, followed by Back to the Future at 7pm.

The following evening, Saundersfoot Harbour will host a premiere screening of Near and Distant Things, a new film by local filmmaker Emily Batty that was shot in and around Saundersfoot.
