Davies and Kurtz Lead North Pembrokeshire Call for 4G Sports Pitch in Fishguard
FISHGUARD, Goodwick and communities across north Pembrokeshire are being urged to back a campaign for a modern 4G all-weather sports pitch, led by local Members of the Senedd Paul Davies and Samuel Kurtz.

The project would provide clubs, schools and young people with a reliable, high-quality facility that can be used all year round. Suitable for both football and rugby, from juniors through to seniors, a 4G pitch would also complement the existing astroturf at Ysgol Bro Gwaun, home to the twin town’s successful hockey club.

Local teams say matches and training sessions are regularly cancelled due to waterlogged pitches, limiting opportunities for players and reducing sporting activity across the community.
Paul Davies MS said: “A 4G pitch would be a major boost for our young people and local clubs. It would improve sporting opportunities and strengthen pride and community spirit across north Pembrokeshire.”
Samuel Kurtz MS added: “With the weather as it is, too many fixtures are lost due to waterlogged pitches. A 4G pitch would give clubs, schools and youth teams consistent access throughout the year, and could also help Fishguard attract tournaments and visitors, bringing wider economic benefits.”
The Members of the Senedd say the pitch would be an investment in health, wellbeing and youth development, and are urging residents to show their support to help strengthen the case for funding.
Paul Davies added: “We need as many people as possible to get behind this campaign. Every signature helps show the strength of local support and the need for this facility in Fishguard.”
Residents can support the campaign by signing up on the website – Support our 4G Pitch for Fishguard & Goodwick Campaign | Pembrokeshire & Ceredigion or before 20th March.

Convicted child killer Mark Bridger has reportedly been assaulted by another inmate
WELSH child killer Mark Bridger has reportedly been attacked again behind bars at HM Prison Wakefield, one of the UK’s highest-security jails.
Bridger, serving a whole-life sentence for the abduction and murder of five-year-old April Jones, is understood to have suffered minor injuries after another inmate assaulted him.
Prison staff quickly stepped in and an investigation is now under way.
It is not the first time Bridger has been targeted in custody. Inmates convicted of crimes against children are often attacked by other prisoners, even inside Category A prisons.
Bridger will never be released.
For many in Wales, the pain of April’s murder remains as raw today as it was in 2012.

Farage tops UK popularity poll as Plaid leads in Wales
NIGEL FARAGE has been named the most popular politician in Britain according to new polling, but voters in Wales are still backing Plaid Cymru when it comes to choosing a party for Westminster.
The latest figures released by YouGov show Farage topping the UK’s favourability rankings, placing him ahead of other major party leaders in terms of personal approval.
However, separate Westminster voting intention data for Wales suggests a different political picture.
Plaid Cymru leads the field on 33 per cent, giving the party an eleven-point advantage over Reform UK, which stands at 22 per cent.
Labour follows on 19 per cent, with the Conservatives and the Green Party both on 10 per cent. The Liberal Democrats trail on 6 per cent.
The contrast highlights the gap between individual popularity and actual voting intention. While Farage’s personal profile remains strong across the UK, Welsh voters appear to favour a party focused specifically on Welsh interests and devolved powers.
With a general election on the horizon, the numbers suggest Wales may once again chart its own course at the ballot box, despite growing support for Reform UK nationally.
