St Davids: Search resumes for missing man in sea
EMERGENCY SERVICES have responded to reports of a man in the sea near St Davids Head yesterday afternoon (May 6) who was suspected to be in difficulty.
At 3:10pm, both St Davids RNLI all-weather and inshore lifeboats were tasked to the area. With strong tides making the search difficult, theyt requested the launch of Fishguard RNLI to assist them in the search.
Also on scene were two local passenger ribs, Atlantic Storm and Viking Pioneer, who assisted with the search.
Three coastguard teams from St Davids, Fishguard and Broad Haven, a UK coastguard rescue helicopter from St Athan and Dyfed-Powys Police officers were also involved.
The search lasted until 9:30pm until fading light forced the search to stop.
This morning (May 7), the St Davids RNLI inshore lifeboat launched at 11:00am to carry out a shore line search, while coastguard teams carried out a coastal search. With nothing found the lifeboat returned to station rehousing at 12:50pm.
Dyfed-Powys Police are currently trying to determine his identity and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
The man has been described as ‘White European, aged in his 60’s, of lean build, had a long face, short hair (colour unknown), and vivid/distinctive white coloured eyebrows. He was wearing a dark coloured day rucksack, dark blue/black coloured trousers, and a dark blue long sleeved shirt or jumper’.
A brown coloured sheepskin bomber type jacket was found near to the scene where the man had been last seen in the sea, which possibly belongs to the man in question.
Inspector Aled Davies said: “Dyfed-Powys Police are appealing to anyone with any information that may assist us in identifying this man or his recent movements, to make contact with us as a matter of urgency by calling 101.”

Mother admits to killing seven-year-old son in Haverfordwest
A mother has admitted to the manslaughter of her seven-year-old son at their home in Haverfordwest, citing diminished responsibility.
Papaipit Linse, 43, appeared at Swansea Crown Court on Friday (Nov 22), where she denied murder but pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with the death of her son, Louis Linse. Prosecutor Caroline Rees KC confirmed the manslaughter plea would be accepted, stating it “did not come as a surprise” to the prosecution.
The incident occurred on 10 January when police were called to a property on Upper Market Street. Louis was rushed to Withybush General Hospital but tragically died shortly afterwards.
During the hearing, Linse, who spoke only to confirm her name and enter her pleas, was informed that she would be sentenced on 13 December. Judge Paul Thomas KC described the case as “clearly a very sensitive as well as a very tragic case.”
The court was told that Linse is currently receiving treatment at the Caswell Clinic, a mental health facility in Bridgend. Psychiatric evidence is expected to be presented during the sentencing hearing to provide further insight into the circumstances surrounding the case.
