Pembroke Dock: Man fined for Asda assault
A PEMBROKE DOCK man has been fined after he pleaded guilty to an assault in the town’s Asda store.
Alex Davies, aged 25, of Victoria Road, appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday (Sept 25) and also pleaded guilty to a second charge of using threatening or abusive words.
Prosecuting, Mr Abul Hussain told the Court: “On September 7, the security employee in the Asda store received a complaint from a member of the public about the defendant’s behaviour. He was swearing and shouting on his mobile phone and the member of staff said to him to watch his behaviour.
“He was smelling of alcohol and he then stopped but then started shouting again. The security staff approached him again but Davies said ‘what the f*** you going to do about it’.
“He began walking towards him and brought his face downwards against the member of staff. It was described as a headbutt but it was minimal contact compared to a headbutt.
“He kept shouting and swearing and was still aggressive when police officers arrived and he was then arrested.
“The victim said in his statement: ‘This was a frightening incident, I could tell he was drunk and it unacceptable to behave like that. It was concerning, not only for me but for other customers as well’.
Defending, Anthony O’Connell said: “He is unbelievably remorseful for his actions. He was on the phone in the Asda store to his ex-partner’s current partner. There have been clashes between these two and something was said which caused him to get irate.
“The security manager got involved and he accepts he behaved in an inappropriate way and accepts he was far too close. At the time of the offence he had a drink but is now looking to get things back in order.”
The Magistrates said this was quite a ‘fearful experience’ for those involved and said there was no excuse for what he did.
For the public order offence he was fined £40 and he was given the same fine for the assault.
He will also have to pay a £30 victim surcharge and £85 in court costs.

Mother admits to killing seven-year-old son in Haverfordwest
A mother has admitted to the manslaughter of her seven-year-old son at their home in Haverfordwest, citing diminished responsibility.
Papaipit Linse, 43, appeared at Swansea Crown Court on Friday (Nov 22), where she denied murder but pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with the death of her son, Louis Linse. Prosecutor Caroline Rees KC confirmed the manslaughter plea would be accepted, stating it “did not come as a surprise” to the prosecution.
The incident occurred on 10 January when police were called to a property on Upper Market Street. Louis was rushed to Withybush General Hospital but tragically died shortly afterwards.
During the hearing, Linse, who spoke only to confirm her name and enter her pleas, was informed that she would be sentenced on 13 December. Judge Paul Thomas KC described the case as “clearly a very sensitive as well as a very tragic case.”
The court was told that Linse is currently receiving treatment at the Caswell Clinic, a mental health facility in Bridgend. Psychiatric evidence is expected to be presented during the sentencing hearing to provide further insight into the circumstances surrounding the case.
