Construction starts at solar farm

RENEWABLE ENERGY developers vogt solar and Solafields have kicked off the construction of Crundale Solar Farm at Fenton Home Farm, east of Crundale.
The solar farm will have the capacity to generate 31.28 MW AC of clean, renewable energy. This is enough to power approx. 9,200 average UK homes each year, and will save around 460,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions over the 30-year life of the solar farm. A community benefit fund will be set up by vogt solar and Solafields once the solar farm is up and running, to enable local people to share in the benefits of the project. This will provide grants to community projects and initiatives, preferably in relation to renewable energy or energy efficiency. The developers are keen to hear from local groups needing support. Please contact Sarah Bower at vogt solar on info@vogtsolar. co.uk or call 01273 615273 if you have any suggestions for the community benefit fund Agricultural use of the land at Fenton Home Farm will continue alongside renewable energy generation, with sheep grazing around and beneath the solar panels. A wildflower and grass meadow will be planted, attracting birds and insects and improving biodiversity on site. Bird and bat boxes and log piles for insects will be installed. An Environmental Management Plan has been put in place to manage the site, which will be looked after by a dedicated site ranger employed by the developers. A Construction Management Plan has been developed to ensure any disruption is kept to a minimum during the three-month build period. Construction and delivery vehicles will first travel to a holding area to the west of Crundale village, where they will be held until given permission to access the solar farm site. From here, vehicles will travel to the site via Dingle Lane. HGV movements will be managed to avoid a build up of traffic on Dingle Lane, and will be controlled at the railway crossing by stop-go boards. A series of temporary road signs will be erected in the village at key points to ensure safe movement of traffic. The Highway Authority advises that HGV movements along Dingle Lane may only take place Monday to Saturday outside of peak hours. After 30 years the solar panels will be removed and recycled.

Community gathers to remember Corrina Baker
Lanterns and balloons released in emotional acts of remembrance
FAMILY, friends and members of the local community came together to remember Corrina Baker at a series of moving events held across west Wales this week.
Corrina’s funeral took place on Monday (Dec 15), a month after her death, with a public service held at St Mary’s Church. Mourners lined the route as her coffin was carried on its final journey in an elegant horse-drawn carriage, before a private cremation later took place at Parc Gwyn crematorium in Narberth.

Later that evening, shortly after 6:00pm, friends and relatives gathered at the Quayside in Cardigan for the first of two acts of remembrance to celebrate her life. Lanterns were lit and released into the night sky above the town as some of Corrina’s favourite songs were played.

On Tuesday afternoon (Dec 16), a second tribute was held near the location where Corrina was found. Twenty-one pink balloons — one for each year of her life — were released into a clear blue sky, each carrying personal messages in her memory.
Floral tributes continue to be laid at the Netpool, while a GoFundMe appeal set up in Corrina’s memory has raised more than £2,300. She has been described by those who knew her as “funny and bright”.
Dyfed-Powys Police have confirmed that their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ms Baker’s death is ongoing. A 29-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail while inquiries continue.
