Business break-ins shock town
FOUR burglaries over four days have shocked both residents and business owners in Milford Haven alike.
In the early hours of Tuesday morning (Nov 26) there was a break-in at the Cohen’s Chemist which is part of the Manchester Square Medical Centre. It is understood that the window was broken in the early hours of the morning with a claw hammer – it was the second break-in at the pharmacy in recent weeks in similar circumstances. The Herald was told that several prescription drugs were stolen from the store.
A man, who has been charged with burglary of the Factory Shop in Charles Street, Milford Haven, appeared in magistrates’ court yesterday.
Thomas John Picton, 34, has been charged with a burglary which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday (Nov 27), at what was formerly the Woolworth store in Charles Street, Milford Haven.
Police were seen conducting a search at a property in Hakin connected to Picton on Wednesday – officers with gloves took evidence connected with the case from the property following an intensive search.
It is understood that this was following Picton’s arrest.
He was remanded to appear at Llanelli Magistrates Court this morning, November 28, 2019.
A number of other commercial properties in Milford Haven have also been subject to break-ins over the last few days.
These are under investigation by the police.
On the same night that The Original Factory Shop was broken in to, there was also a break-in at a shop in the Gallery Precinct.
Kyleigh Coe confirmed that her premises was broken into and that there was blood left at the scene.
The Welsh Bakery and Gingers Café on Robert Street, Milford Haven was broken into on Thursday morning (Nov 28).
The management put an appeal on Facebook asking for anyone with information to come forward.
The crimes seemed to be similar with the assailant gaining entry after breaking a window facing the main road, with a tool or implement.
A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Dyfed-Powys Police is investigating three burglaries which have occurred in Milford Haven over the last three days.
“Sometime overnight 25/26 a number of items were stolen from two business properties, one in Fulke Street and one in a precinct off Charles Street.
“Sometime overnight November 27/28 a quantity of cash was stolen for a business premises in Robert Street, Milford Haven”.
Anyone with information that could help officers with their investigation is asked to report it to Dyfed-Powys Police by calling 101.

Arrest after fatal Carmarthenshire hit-and-run
A MAN has been arrested following a fatal hit-and-run collision in Llanpumsaint, Carmarthenshire, on Monday (December 23), which claimed the life of 38-year-old Aaron Jones.
The incident happened near Caer Salem Baptist Chapel between 6:45pm and 7:45pm while Aaron was walking his dog. Police said the vehicle involved, a blue car with noticeable damage, was travelling northbound through the village at the time of the collision.
Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed that the vehicle believed to have been involved has now been located, and a 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop for a collision, and failing to report a collision.
Specially trained officers are supporting Aaron’s family, who have asked for privacy during this difficult time.
A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “We are appealing to anyone who may have seen the vehicle or has dashcam footage from the area during the relevant times to contact us immediately.”
The road remains closed while investigations continue, and residents can expect an increased police presence in the area.
