Lamphey U11s celebrate win in first league game

LAMPHEY’s Under 11 side picked up a win in their first league game last week as they beat the joint team of Stackpole, Hundleton and Bosherston in a closely thought game.

Lamphey scored 287-3 after Stackpole had earlier scored 286-1.

For Stackpole, Ossian Ridgeway scored 11, Louis Dodson added 10 and there were scores of 8 from Ollie Frearson and 6 from Summer Russant.

Elsewhere, Pembroke reached a score of 217-6 in reply to St Ishmaels’ score of 295-4

Abdulla Bhatti scored 13 and finished with figures of 2-6 while Evan Clark took 2-14.

Rossi Ninnis scored 24 and there was a score of 14 from Dillion Lewis who also had good bowling figures of 2-7

Harry Wilson and Caydyn Mcguire each made scores of 11 while Morgan Britton took 2-14.

Saundersfoot beat Cresselly as they scored 294-1 before restricting their opponents to 260-7.

Olly Badham top scored with 26 and he also claimed excellent figures of 3-4.

Taylor Lewis 11, Olly Cook scored 10 while Dan Broomhall finished with figures of 2-15.

Ieuan Prout scored 22 and Griff Jenkins added 14. Phoenix Phillips scored 10 and took 1-18 while there was also a score of 10 from Archie Noyce.

The under 11s season got underway on a lovely evening at Cresselly with Olly Cook winning the toss for Saundersfoot and electing to bat.

Olly Badham (26) showed tremendous powerful stroke play along with Ollie Cook (10) and Taylor Lewis (11).

Pick of the bowlers for Cresselly included Phoenix Phillips 1-18 off 2, Griff Jenkins 0-4 off 2 Archie Noyce and Callum Prater 0-8 and Ellin Rdwards 0-9.

In reply Cresselly batted really well and were able to keep with the run rate – Griff (14) and Phoenix (10) set the tone however it was Ieuan Prout (22) which included 2 x 6s and 2 x 4s which really set the pace.

Ably supported by Archie Noyce (10) Cresselly found themselves well above the run rate at the halfway Mark. However, saundersfoot managed to take a late glut of wickets and this brought the run rate down rapidly.

Dylan Taylor along with Elin tried their best but Callum and Corrin who played some nice shots, found it tough going against 2 bowlers who regularly open the bowling for Cricket Wales West.

Zach and Ethan whilst not on the official scorecard, also batted really positively and ran extremely well between the wickets. Both hit boundaries to end the innings nicely.

In the Under 13s league, Neyland beat Haverfordwest.

Neyland scored 80-1 after earlier bowling Haverfordwest out for 78

Korey Arran retired on a score of 28 and later took two wickets for figures of 2-18.

Corey Riley also retired on 28 before also going on to finish with figures of 2-5.

Sammy Vaughan Harries finished unbeaten on 12.

Ashleigh Watkins took 2-8 while Evan Roberts was not out on 3 and also took 1-15.

Jack scored 19, Freddie scored 12, Finlay added 8 while Harry finished not out on 8 and Sidak finished with figures of 1-6.

Under 13s and under 14s progress after District H finals day success

TENBY UNITED RFC’s junior sides enjoyed a memorable District H finals day, with two age groups securing victories and places in the West Wales cup finals.

The club’s under 13s lifted silverware after beating Crymych 32-17, while the under 14s edged a thrilling contest against Neyland, winning 18-17.

Tenby’s under 12s were also involved in a close match, narrowly losing 31-28 to Haverfordwest.

The under 13s and under 14s will now go on to represent the club at the West Wales cup finals at Parc y Scarlets on May 24.

Tenby United RFC congratulated the young Swifts on their achievements, saying: “Well done Swifts.”

Carew set early pace as rain disrupts Pembrokeshire cricket programme

RAIN played a major part in Week 2 of the Nicholas Insurance Thomas Carroll Pembroke County Cricket League, with several Division 1 fixtures abandoned after strong first-innings performances.

Carew made the biggest statement in the top flight, cruising to a ten-wicket win over St Ishmaels to move clear at the top of the table.

St Ishmaels were bowled out for 110, with Tim Hicks (3-18), Shaun Whitfield (3-14) and Logan Hall (2-27) doing the damage. Carew then eased to 111-0, Hicks completing an outstanding all-round display with 55 not out, alongside Morgan Grieve’s unbeaten 54.

Elsewhere, Narberth piled up 301-7 before rain intervened against Herbrandston, Jamie McCormack hitting a superb 104. Lawrenny (297-7) and Burton (203-7) also posted big totals before the weather had the final say.

Johnston sit top after a dominant 135-run win over Llangwm, powered by Lewis Boswell’s 99 and Steve Mills’ 62.

Hook maintained their perfect start, edging Haverfordwest by four wickets, while Cresselly II brushed aside Llechryd by nine wickets after bowling them out for just 41.

Kilgetty and Carew II are locked together at the top after two wins from two.

Lamphey produced one of the standout performances of the week, hammering Burton II by 155 runs, while Laugharne continued their unbeaten start.

Amman United end season with narrow win at Cardigan

AMMAN United rounded off a difficult Division 3 West campaign with a hard-fought 22-21 victory away at Cardigan.

After a season marked by long journeys, disappointing defeats, cancellations and several late abandoned fixtures, the Reds finished on a positive note in Aberteifi.

It was United’s third match in a hectic six-day spell, all away from home. After valiant defeats against high-flying New Dock Stars and Tumble, Amman showed character to claim a narrow but deserved final-day win.

The late-season improvement has been helped by the introduction of several players from Amman’s victorious Youth side, who recently lifted the National Welsh Youth Cup at the Principality Stadium for the first time in the club’s history.

Ceian Lewis, Harvey Duncan, Tom James, Dyfan Llewelyn, Cole Lacey, Ioan Booth, Aled Davies and Hefin Davies all started at Cardigan, bringing fresh energy and renewed spirit to the side. The match also marked the end of the road for several long-serving stalwarts who have helped carry the team through some difficult recent seasons.

Cardigan made the stronger start, opening the scoring with an early converted try.

Amman responded well, drawing level before taking a 14-7 lead through tries from centre Dylan Lloyd and scrum-half Lee Evans, both converted by captain and outside-half Iestyn Griffiths.

The home side hit back with a second try, but Lloyd crossed again for his second of the afternoon. A Griffiths penalty then stretched Amman’s advantage to 22-12.

Cardigan rallied late on, but United held firm to secure a welcome win and bring their campaign to a close on a high.
