Local charity provides the answers
ALWAYS looking to the needs of their patients, the nursing team at the local Cancer Day Unit approached local charity Withybush Hospital CDU Appeal for help in providing a new information website for patients, their relatives and friends.
As a result, the charity has developed a user-friendly website which aims to put them in touch with the services they may need. Website topics include money matters, equipment loan, access to transport while having treatment, local sources of help, advice and emotional support, and many others.
Bernie George, charity trustee who has developed the site, explained: “I wanted to create something that was simple in layout and brings together the information needed by those who are unwell, but also for those who are supporting a family member or a friend undergoing treatment. The website is now live and can be accessed via Google using a range of gadgets including laptops, hand-held computers and mobile phones.”
Present at the launch was Lyn Neville, local campaigner for cancer services in Pembrokeshire. Lyn commented: “I know from first experience when you are ill how important it is to know that there are organisations which are there to help you
including our own – Pembrokeshire Cancer Support. The new website is a great local resource which is easy to use and has done the work in sourcing information on topics which matter to cancer patients.”
The staff from the Chemotherapy Day Unit wanted to utilise the technology available and the provision of this website will allow patients, relatives and carers to access appropriate information and support from reputable sources. The staff have commented that the charity has listened very carefully to what they wanted to set up and provide for their patients and kipp.tips will now signpost patients easily to any further information they may require before, during and after their treatment in the Day Unit.
The Staff also asked the charity to work on the provision of a paper-based version of the website, which is now available in the Day Unit for those who are not able to access the internet.
The website can be visited at www. kipp.tips.

Tigers second division Cup Champions
In a thrilling Pembrokeshire Division Two Cup final under the floodlights of Bridge Meadow Stadium, fans witnessed an epic battle between Monkton Swifts reserves and Johnston. Despite Monkton Swifts reserves being touted as favorites, Johnston proved their mettle from the outset.
The game kicked off with a burst of energy as Johnston’s center half, Craig Bendall, seized an early opportunity to put his team ahead just ten minutes into the match. However, Monkton Swifts’ prolific Scotsman, Davis, swiftly responded with an equalizer, showcasing the resilience of the favourites.
The momentum shifted again when the dynamic duo of Alfie and Scott Crawford of Johnston orchestrated a beautifully executed goal, putting Johnston back in the lead at 2-1.
As the game progressed, Monkton Swifts brought in reinforcements, including Ben Steele, to regain control. Their efforts paid off when Jordan Kilby leveled the score at 2-2 with just under 20 minutes remaining.
But the Crawfords had other plans. Combining once more, Scott provided the assist for Alfie, who coolly finished to put Johnston ahead once again.
