Natural Resources Wales issue flood alert for Pembrokeshire Coast
Natural Resources Wales (NRW) has issued a Flood Alert for the Pembrokeshire coast, with flooding possible between St Dogmaels, Cardigan, and Amroth. Residents in affected areas are advised to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures.
The alert, sent at 14:59 today, urges people to be prepared as water levels may rise. For further details, NRW has provided online resources at their flood warning site and recommends checking real-time water levels via their ‘river, rainfall and sea data’ page.
Advice to Residents
Residents are urged to follow safety guidelines during the flood alert:
Do’s:
- Follow any pre-existing flood plans.
- Ensure the safety of loved ones and pets, planning how to move them if necessary.
- Protect valuables and sentimental items by moving them to higher ground.
- Charge your mobile phone and ensure it is on.
- Familiarise yourself with how to turn off electricity, gas, and water supplies.
- Prepare a small bag with essentials, including medication, phone charger, warm clothing, pet care items, and insurance documents, in case evacuation is required.
- Move vehicles, livestock, and equipment away from areas at risk of flooding.
Don’ts:
- Do not attempt to drive or walk through floodwater. Just 30 centimetres of water can sweep a car away, and 15 centimetres can knock a person off their feet.
How to Stay Informed
Residents can contact Floodline on 0345 988 1188 using quick dial number 503013 for more information. NRW also provides updates on social media via @NatResWales.

Community gathers to remember Corrina Baker
Lanterns and balloons released in emotional acts of remembrance
FAMILY, friends and members of the local community came together to remember Corrina Baker at a series of moving events held across west Wales this week.
Corrina’s funeral took place on Monday (Dec 15), a month after her death, with a public service held at St Mary’s Church. Mourners lined the route as her coffin was carried on its final journey in an elegant horse-drawn carriage, before a private cremation later took place at Parc Gwyn crematorium in Narberth.

Later that evening, shortly after 6:00pm, friends and relatives gathered at the Quayside in Cardigan for the first of two acts of remembrance to celebrate her life. Lanterns were lit and released into the night sky above the town as some of Corrina’s favourite songs were played.

On Tuesday afternoon (Dec 16), a second tribute was held near the location where Corrina was found. Twenty-one pink balloons — one for each year of her life — were released into a clear blue sky, each carrying personal messages in her memory.
Floral tributes continue to be laid at the Netpool, while a GoFundMe appeal set up in Corrina’s memory has raised more than £2,300. She has been described by those who knew her as “funny and bright”.
Dyfed-Powys Police have confirmed that their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ms Baker’s death is ongoing. A 29-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail while inquiries continue.
