Llanstadwell flower festival promises a blooming celebration
Floral displays, prizes and community spirit at St Tudwal’s Church
A COMMUNITY flower festival is set to bring colour, creativity and local pride to St Tudwal’s Church in Llanstadwell from Friday, July 11 to Sunday, July 13.
The event is being organised by The Friends of St Tudwal’s Llanstadwell, a local charity working to preserve and develop the historic church building as a community hub. With support from Milford Haven Port Authority, Valero and Tesco Milford Haven, the festival is shaping up to be one of the summer’s most picturesque highlights.
A key feature will be the flower display competition, open to individuals, groups, clubs and businesses. The theme this year is ‘The Sea or The Cleddau’, celebrating the church’s waterfront setting. Entries cost £5 and will be judged by public ballot. To take part, competitors should contact Penny Lewis at [email protected] or call 07811 375289.
The festival will be open to the public daily from 10:00am to 4:00pm, with a suggested donation of £4 for entry (under 16s free). Limited parking is available, and visitors are encouraged to walk from Neyland Promenade or Neyland Point if possible.
On the final day, Sunday, July 13, the festival will conclude with a 6:00pm service entitled ‘The Sea’, held in the church.
Jocelyn Llewhellin, Chair of The Friends of St Tudwal’s, said: “We warmly invite everyone from Llanstadwell, Hazelbeach, Mastlebridge, Waterston and beyond to come and enjoy the flowers, refreshments, and community atmosphere. Every penny raised helps us protect and revitalise this beautiful and historic building.”
The Friends are currently fundraising to secure the sea wall, install a water supply, improve IT infrastructure and enhance the church’s potential as a community space.

Community gathers to remember Corrina Baker
Lanterns and balloons released in emotional acts of remembrance
FAMILY, friends and members of the local community came together to remember Corrina Baker at a series of moving events held across west Wales this week.
Corrina’s funeral took place on Monday (Dec 15), a month after her death, with a public service held at St Mary’s Church. Mourners lined the route as her coffin was carried on its final journey in an elegant horse-drawn carriage, before a private cremation later took place at Parc Gwyn crematorium in Narberth.

Later that evening, shortly after 6:00pm, friends and relatives gathered at the Quayside in Cardigan for the first of two acts of remembrance to celebrate her life. Lanterns were lit and released into the night sky above the town as some of Corrina’s favourite songs were played.

On Tuesday afternoon (Dec 16), a second tribute was held near the location where Corrina was found. Twenty-one pink balloons — one for each year of her life — were released into a clear blue sky, each carrying personal messages in her memory.
Floral tributes continue to be laid at the Netpool, while a GoFundMe appeal set up in Corrina’s memory has raised more than £2,300. She has been described by those who knew her as “funny and bright”.
Dyfed-Powys Police have confirmed that their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ms Baker’s death is ongoing. A 29-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail while inquiries continue.
