Haverfordwest man sentenced for child abuse and bestiality images
A HAVERFORDWEST father has been given a suspended prison sentence after police found child sexual abuse material and hundreds of bestiality images on his devices.
Dean Pellington, 31, was arrested on May 29 last year in connection with an unrelated matter. Swansea Crown Court heard that during the investigation, officers seized several of his devices. Pellington provided passcodes and PINs to police, and a later examination revealed the illegal content.
Prosecutor David Singh said 205 extreme pornographic images involving animals were recovered, including one showing a woman performing a sex act on a horse. Officers also found two Category A images – the most serious level – along with three Category B and three Category C indecent images of children.
Among them was an image of a 12-year-old girl with a dog positioned between her legs, and another of a girl lying with her head in the groin area of a naked 12-year-old boy.
When questioned, Pellington accepted that he was the sole user of the devices but claimed to have no knowledge of the files, suggesting they may have been sent via a group chat. Judge Paul Thomas KC dismissed this explanation as “beyond belief” and rejected his initial denial of having a sexual interest in children.
The court heard that Pellington, had no previous convictions. Defence counsel Dean Pulling said his client now accepted there was “an aspect of sexual gratification” involved and had co-operated fully with the investigation.
Pellington admitted three offences of making indecent images of children and one offence of possessing extreme pornographic images.
Judge Thomas told him: “Those images were created using real children who were sexually abused and traumatised, likely suffering lifelong harm, because there is a market for people like you to view them. Saying you acted out of curiosity is the default excuse for men with a sexual interest in children.”
He was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for 18 months, ordered to complete 26 sessions of an accredited programme, 100 hours of unpaid work, and 20 rehabilitation activity days.
Pellington must register as a sex offender for seven years and is subject to a sexual harm prevention order for the same period.

Castlemartin man back before magistrates over multiple alleged assaults
Defendant remanded on conditional bail ahead of further hearing
A CASTLEMARTIN man has appeared repeatedly before magistrates this month over a string A 40-year-old man from Castlemartin has made repeated appearances before magistrates this month in connection with a series of serious alleged offences, including assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH), intentional non-fatal strangulation, common assault, and criminal damage.
Anthony Alcock, of Pwll Street, Castlemartin, is facing six linked charges stemming from incidents said to have occurred earlier this year. These appear to relate to the same complainant in what is understood to be a single ongoing domestic abuse prosecution.
During recent administrative hearings at Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court, Alcock did not enter pleas while matters of bail and case management were addressed.
Charges Include:
- Assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH)
- Intentional non-fatal strangulation
- Common assault on a woman
- Criminal damage in a domestic context
- Additional assault allegations involving the same complainant
- Breach of bail conditions
Alcock was initially granted conditional bail but was subsequently brought before the court on two occasions for alleged breaches. On those instances, magistrates remanded him in custody ahead of further hearings. He was later re-granted conditional bail, subject to strict conditions such as no contact with the complainant and exclusion from specified locations.
Magistrates have now declined jurisdiction, ruling that the case—particularly the more serious charges involving non-fatal strangulation—is too grave for summary trial. It has been committed to Swansea Crown Court for plea, trial, or sentencing.
No detailed evidence has been presented in open court at this preliminary stage. Alcock remains on conditional bail pending his next appearance at the Crown Court.
