Milford Haven: New nightclub and pizza restaurant
A MILFORD HAVEN businessman has this week unveiled ambitious plans to turn the old HSBC bank in Milford Haven into a showpiece nightclub and pizza restaurant in the centre of town.
The former Hamilton Terrace bank, which is a Grade II listed building, was closed in December 2013 after the bank said footfall was down on previous years.
The new nightclub, which is to be called ‘Fire’, will require a significant extension to the rear of the premises.
The man behind the project is 61-year-old Hugo Henricksen.
Mr Henricksen said: “I am pleased to have had a letter from Pembrokeshire County Council agreeing to the change in use for the premises, and the extension, in principle.”
Asked why this would be a successful business when so many clubs are closing, Mr Henricksen told The Herald: “This club is going to be different from all the other clubs in the area, being very hi-tech indeed. The club will more video and laser show orientated than other clubs in Wales.
He added: “Over the last thirteen years I have been assisting and building twelve different nightclubs in Cardiff and therefore I feel I know what is appreciated by the public.”
When asked about the time scale he said: “As with anything in Wales, it all depends on the ‘building weather’. I am aiming for the middle of next year, however, the job is going to be done right and will not be opened until everyone is satisfied. There will be no wet paint or carpet fitters creeping out the back door.”
The land and gardens at the rear of the nightclub, which will have an expected capacity of 250 people, has already been cleared and terraced.
The nightclub will have a large garden at the rear of the premises for smokers.
In regard to entertainment, the club will feature mainly modern dance music.
The ground floor will feature a pizza parlour with both seating and take away, called ‘Pizza-Excess’.
Mr Henricksen said: “Due to my retirement I will not be running the club or pizza shop myself, my enjoyment will be in the design and building of the place. These days I like to go bed early and I have more of a long term interest in working on classic cars.”

Castlemartin man back before magistrates over multiple alleged assaults
Defendant remanded on conditional bail ahead of further hearing
A CASTLEMARTIN man has appeared repeatedly before magistrates this month over a string A 40-year-old man from Castlemartin has made repeated appearances before magistrates this month in connection with a series of serious alleged offences, including assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH), intentional non-fatal strangulation, common assault, and criminal damage.
Anthony Alcock, of Pwll Street, Castlemartin, is facing six linked charges stemming from incidents said to have occurred earlier this year. These appear to relate to the same complainant in what is understood to be a single ongoing domestic abuse prosecution.
During recent administrative hearings at Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court, Alcock did not enter pleas while matters of bail and case management were addressed.
Charges Include:
- Assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH)
- Intentional non-fatal strangulation
- Common assault on a woman
- Criminal damage in a domestic context
- Additional assault allegations involving the same complainant
- Breach of bail conditions
Alcock was initially granted conditional bail but was subsequently brought before the court on two occasions for alleged breaches. On those instances, magistrates remanded him in custody ahead of further hearings. He was later re-granted conditional bail, subject to strict conditions such as no contact with the complainant and exclusion from specified locations.
Magistrates have now declined jurisdiction, ruling that the case—particularly the more serious charges involving non-fatal strangulation—is too grave for summary trial. It has been committed to Swansea Crown Court for plea, trial, or sentencing.
No detailed evidence has been presented in open court at this preliminary stage. Alcock remains on conditional bail pending his next appearance at the Crown Court.

No mention of his sexual contact with 13 year old girls? Doesn’t he also own the building that The Herald operates from? Bit of a conflict of interest?
