Pembroke Dock: Plans for new playground to be displayed
AS pasrt of the consultation process for Pembroke Dock Memorial Park, Councillor Josh Beynon and other trustees will be in the Town Council Offices showcasing plans for the park on July 12.
For what would be the first-of-its-kind, the construction of the disability friendly playground has two options.
The first would be to undertake and complete the first phase quickly, yet with less equipment in the park, whilst the second would see all three planned phases at once, by applying for grant funding from other organisations.
The second option would mean there will be more equipment in the park, but it would take longer, and there is the risk that grant applications may not be successful.
Cllr Josh Beynon, one of the trustees for the park, said: “The consultation has been open now for two weeks, and as of this minute we have had 701 responses, where only around 50% of the responses have been from those under the age of 18. We want this to be much higher considering they will be the ones who will use and benefit from new equipment.
“Parents, grandparents, guardians, teachers and whoever else can you please encourage those you know under the age of 18 to fill out the survey.
“Lets make the Pembroke Dock Memorial Park the place to go for all in Pembrokeshire and even West Wales and beyond!”
On Thursday, July 12, between 9.30am and 12.30pm, the trustees will be in the Town Council Offices, 28 Dimond Street, Pembroke Dock showcasing plans for the park on large laminated posters.
Cllr Beynon said: “Come along and say hello if you have any questions or just want a look if you have a spare minute!”
The consultation will run until Friday, July 20, and can be seen here: https://goo.gl/forms/

Mother admits to killing seven-year-old son in Haverfordwest
A mother has admitted to the manslaughter of her seven-year-old son at their home in Haverfordwest, citing diminished responsibility.
Papaipit Linse, 43, appeared at Swansea Crown Court on Friday (Nov 22), where she denied murder but pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with the death of her son, Louis Linse. Prosecutor Caroline Rees KC confirmed the manslaughter plea would be accepted, stating it “did not come as a surprise” to the prosecution.
The incident occurred on 10 January when police were called to a property on Upper Market Street. Louis was rushed to Withybush General Hospital but tragically died shortly afterwards.
During the hearing, Linse, who spoke only to confirm her name and enter her pleas, was informed that she would be sentenced on 13 December. Judge Paul Thomas KC described the case as “clearly a very sensitive as well as a very tragic case.”
The court was told that Linse is currently receiving treatment at the Caswell Clinic, a mental health facility in Bridgend. Psychiatric evidence is expected to be presented during the sentencing hearing to provide further insight into the circumstances surrounding the case.
