Capitol Riot: Welsh politician compares Trump to Starmer

- ‘A test of Paul Davies’ leadership’ claims Labour Minister
A FORMER leader of the Welsh Conservatives, Andrew RT Davies, faced calls to quit last night and this morning after an ill-judged tweet backfired.
While Mr Davies might be immune to embarrassment, the fall-out from his tweet will be an embarrassment to his Party and its Leader in the Senedd, Paul Davies.
The former leader is a combative, not to say ‘belligerent’, character, who enjoys using colourful phrases to attract attention.
Responding to a tweet from Labour leader Sir Kier Starmer following the shocking and violent attempt to derail American democracy at the urging of outgoing President Donald Trump, Mr Davies tweeted the following.
The response of a former Foreign Office Minister and Conservative MP Alistair Burt was as forthright as it is humiliating for Andrew RT Davies.
As readers will see, Andrew RT Davies’ position within the wider Conservative Party is not as well-known as he might like.
‘If’. A short two-letter word which speaks volumes about English Conservatives’ knowledge of Welsh Conservatism.
And ‘if’ the response from the former Minister wasn’t enough to give Andrew RT Davies pause for the thought, the following tweet certainly should.
Lee Waters MS, the Welsh Government’s Deputy Minister for the Economy and a reliable attack dog for Labour in Wales, poured fuel on the flames.
As we went to press, calls were growing for Paul Davies to take action to curb his predecessor’s ability to locate his mouth with his foot.
At least one Labour politician, Chris Bryant MP, has written to the Conservative Party calling for Andrew RT Davies’ suspension.
Mr Davies might be satisfied that at least one MP in Westminster knows who he is; even if it’s a Labour one.
While having a senior frontbencher comparing a violent attempt at insurrection with non-violent Brexit protests is a ‘real test’ for Paul Davies is open to question.
The real test for the Preseli Pembrokeshire MS might well be persuading Andrew RT Davies to shut up.

Mother admits to killing seven-year-old son in Haverfordwest
A mother has admitted to the manslaughter of her seven-year-old son at their home in Haverfordwest, citing diminished responsibility.
Papaipit Linse, 43, appeared at Swansea Crown Court on Friday (Nov 22), where she denied murder but pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with the death of her son, Louis Linse. Prosecutor Caroline Rees KC confirmed the manslaughter plea would be accepted, stating it “did not come as a surprise” to the prosecution.
The incident occurred on 10 January when police were called to a property on Upper Market Street. Louis was rushed to Withybush General Hospital but tragically died shortly afterwards.
During the hearing, Linse, who spoke only to confirm her name and enter her pleas, was informed that she would be sentenced on 13 December. Judge Paul Thomas KC described the case as “clearly a very sensitive as well as a very tragic case.”
The court was told that Linse is currently receiving treatment at the Caswell Clinic, a mental health facility in Bridgend. Psychiatric evidence is expected to be presented during the sentencing hearing to provide further insight into the circumstances surrounding the case.
