Popular Tenby Hotel served improvement notices
A LONGSTANDING hotel in the popular seaside town of Tenby has been served with improvement notices following several complaints.
The Royal Lion Hotel, Tenby, has received an online bashing over “disgusting” and “unhygienic” rooms.
A number of disgruntled customers have taken to Facebook to speak of their disgust after they checked into the hotel, with many refusing to stay after being faced with their rooms.

Some customers claimed that beds have collapsed from brushing past them, filthy carpets, rubbish strewn across the room and a likeness to a construction site.
Along with the Facebook posts, images have been shared which show the hotel to be in disrepair and a far cry away from the rooms which are advertised.

A Pembrokeshire County Council spokesperson confirmed to this newspaper that they had received complaints from guests at the hotel and several visits had been made to the premises from the Council’s Public Protection Team.
In a statement they said: “Pembrokeshire County Council can confirm that, in response to complaints received, officers from the Council’s Public Protection Team have made several visits to the Royal Lion Hotel, Tenby over the last two weeks.
“Improvement notices have since been served on the Hotel by the Council’s Food Safety and Standards Team.
“A Health and Safety inspection is also due to be carried out.
“The Council continues to engage with the Hotel operators.”

One guest, Natasha Hart, told this newspaper that the hotel showed “no cleaning standards, let alone standards that complied to Covid regulations.”
“It looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in decades. There was so much ingrained dirt, there was rubbish under the beds, popcorn everywhere.”
Natasha and her partner paid £102 for a stay at the hotel, which they described as a “construction site”.
She added: “The reception area was covered in ladders, paint tin and tools and I had to watch my children very closely to ensure they didn’t go near anything that was a danger to them.”

“One of my children walked around the room, brushed past one of the beds and the thing collapsed. I could not believe it.
“They said to me mummy look at the state of it.”
Natasha, from Port Talbot, Neath, her partner and two small children had booked their stay at the hotel so they could spend a family day at Folly Farm.
Natasha and her family tried to get a refund from the hotel, but have yet to be successful.

Community gathers to remember Corrina Baker
Lanterns and balloons released in emotional acts of remembrance
FAMILY, friends and members of the local community came together to remember Corrina Baker at a series of moving events held across west Wales this week.
Corrina’s funeral took place on Monday (Dec 15), a month after her death, with a public service held at St Mary’s Church. Mourners lined the route as her coffin was carried on its final journey in an elegant horse-drawn carriage, before a private cremation later took place at Parc Gwyn crematorium in Narberth.

Later that evening, shortly after 6:00pm, friends and relatives gathered at the Quayside in Cardigan for the first of two acts of remembrance to celebrate her life. Lanterns were lit and released into the night sky above the town as some of Corrina’s favourite songs were played.

On Tuesday afternoon (Dec 16), a second tribute was held near the location where Corrina was found. Twenty-one pink balloons — one for each year of her life — were released into a clear blue sky, each carrying personal messages in her memory.
Floral tributes continue to be laid at the Netpool, while a GoFundMe appeal set up in Corrina’s memory has raised more than £2,300. She has been described by those who knew her as “funny and bright”.
Dyfed-Powys Police have confirmed that their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ms Baker’s death is ongoing. A 29-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail while inquiries continue.
