Mum renews appeal over Michaela’s final hours
THE MOTHER of a young woman who tragically died in Tenby a few days before Christmas is again appealing for anyone who had contact with her in the period leading up to her death to get in touch with police.
25-year-old Michaela Haines was in Tenby on December 22 and the morning of December 23.
Her mother, Christine Williams, has contacted The Herald to appeal for anyone who was with her or saw her during this period to contact the police.
A JustGiving page has been set up to help fund the funeral.
More than £4,000 has now been raised as friends and family come to terms with their shocking loss.
A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Dyfed-Powys Police were called to an address in Tenby in the early hours of December 23 to reports of a death of a woman at the location.
“Officers and paramedics attended and the body of a 25-year-old woman was found at the address.
“There aren’t believed to be suspicious circumstances. HM coroner has been informed.”
Michaela was recognised for her work with The Prince’s Trust and Duke of Edinburgh awards, and also volunteered at the Pembroke Dock youth club.
She was an active young woman who loved horse riding, dancing, surfing and motocross.
In Tenby, flowers, candles and cards have been left as a tribute to her short but memorable life.
Hayley Brown posted on Facebook, commenting on the tributes: “So many people have come and brought you flowers. You have your own little flower garden; it’s so beautiful with candles and fairy lights and flowers… A beautiful tribute to such a beautiful girl; so many people love you.”
Jessica Austin said: “I’m in shock. I can’t believe what I’m reading! The tears haven’t stopped! Never in my life have I known such a caring, loving and beautiful girl as you!”
Sally James concurred: “Still doesn’t feel real! Micheala always had such a positive attitude no matter how she was feeling, and was always ready to help others! College will never be the same; we will all miss you so much!”
Michaela’s funeral will be held on Tuesday (Jan 10) at 1.30pm at St Mary’s Church in Pembroke.
A service will be held at 3.15pm at the Parc Gwyn Crematorium in Narberth.
There will also be a reception at the Monkton Swifts Social Club, Pembroke, commencing at approximately 3pm, following the service.
Michaela’s family have asked that attendees remember that the funeral is a happy celebration of her life and say that all are welcome.

Mother admits to killing seven-year-old son in Haverfordwest
A mother has admitted to the manslaughter of her seven-year-old son at their home in Haverfordwest, citing diminished responsibility.
Papaipit Linse, 43, appeared at Swansea Crown Court on Friday (Nov 22), where she denied murder but pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with the death of her son, Louis Linse. Prosecutor Caroline Rees KC confirmed the manslaughter plea would be accepted, stating it “did not come as a surprise” to the prosecution.
The incident occurred on 10 January when police were called to a property on Upper Market Street. Louis was rushed to Withybush General Hospital but tragically died shortly afterwards.
During the hearing, Linse, who spoke only to confirm her name and enter her pleas, was informed that she would be sentenced on 13 December. Judge Paul Thomas KC described the case as “clearly a very sensitive as well as a very tragic case.”
The court was told that Linse is currently receiving treatment at the Caswell Clinic, a mental health facility in Bridgend. Psychiatric evidence is expected to be presented during the sentencing hearing to provide further insight into the circumstances surrounding the case.
