Mobile vaccination clinic will be situated in Pembroke Dock
A MOBILE Covid-19 vaccination clinic will be operating in Pembroke Dock this month for anybody aged over 18 that requires either a first or second dose.
Following the success of a mobile vaccination van in Cross Hands, a COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be operating in Pembroke Dock from Thursday 8th to Saturday 10th July.
In partnership between Hywel Dda University Health Board (UHB) and Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, the vaccination van will deliver the vaccine to anyone aged 18 and over that requires either a first or second dose (Moderna and Oxford AstraZeneca). Second doses can be given 8 weeks after the first dose.
The mobile vaccination clinic will be based at Western Way car park (behind Asda, SA72 6DB) and will operate this Thursday to Saturday from 11am to 7pm. There is no need to contact the health board to book an appointment.
The fire service is providing one of its vehicles and members of the team will also be in attendance to provide the public with general community safety advice, including about home safety. The health board’s Community Development Outreach team will also be joining them to reach out to ethnic minority people living in Pembrokeshire to help them during the COVID-19 pandemic, support community cohesion, and remove barriers to accessing services.
Chief Fire Officer for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Chris Davies said: “The response of our colleagues in the National Health Service has been exceptional during this global pandemic and I am pleased that we can, again, assist Hywel Dda in its vaccination programme, having recently concluded a hugely successful partnership where we were able to assist with transportation of people within our communities to and from Mass Vaccination centres.
“Our relationship with the people we serve puts us in a unique position. On top of this our staff are community focused and trained to work with people from all walks of life. This combination has allowed us to react quickly to this request for assistance.
“This opportunity and partnership allows us to expand our assistance further within the health arena, and is going to make a positive impact on our response to this global pandemic and we are pleased to be able play our part and collaborate with our NHS partners to change the lives of many people.”
With the rise in cases across the UK, Hywel Dda UHB is urging as many people as possible to come forward for their first and second doses.

Community gathers to remember Corrina Baker
Lanterns and balloons released in emotional acts of remembrance
FAMILY, friends and members of the local community came together to remember Corrina Baker at a series of moving events held across west Wales this week.
Corrina’s funeral took place on Monday (Dec 15), a month after her death, with a public service held at St Mary’s Church. Mourners lined the route as her coffin was carried on its final journey in an elegant horse-drawn carriage, before a private cremation later took place at Parc Gwyn crematorium in Narberth.

Later that evening, shortly after 6:00pm, friends and relatives gathered at the Quayside in Cardigan for the first of two acts of remembrance to celebrate her life. Lanterns were lit and released into the night sky above the town as some of Corrina’s favourite songs were played.

On Tuesday afternoon (Dec 16), a second tribute was held near the location where Corrina was found. Twenty-one pink balloons — one for each year of her life — were released into a clear blue sky, each carrying personal messages in her memory.
Floral tributes continue to be laid at the Netpool, while a GoFundMe appeal set up in Corrina’s memory has raised more than £2,300. She has been described by those who knew her as “funny and bright”.
Dyfed-Powys Police have confirmed that their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ms Baker’s death is ongoing. A 29-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail while inquiries continue.
