Coastal music festival gets go-ahead for next month

WESTIVAL returns next month with two new stages included in its licence.

Those behind the festival were complimented for their organisation and engagement with authorities during discussions of a new licence application to Pembrokeshire County Council.

The licensing committee heard from Joe Worley, the event’s organiser, as well as potential proposals to add two new stages and a ‘sunset stage’ in another neighbouring field at a meeting conducted on Monday, June 20.

Mr Worley claimed that the guests will benefit from the different areas and will improve the foot traffic around the site at Shipping Farm, near Manorbier.

The committee also heard that a 3am licence for the event had been accepted in 2020, however, the four-day festival was cancelled due to Covid-19. The previous year’s event ended at 1am.

Music is expected to stop at midnight on Thursday and Sunday.

Councillor Mark Carter raised concerns about a potential increase in complaints after 1am, calling the extension to the time limits “fairly radical” and the committee heard there had only been five complaints after the 2019 event, three of which were repeats of after 2018.

The application states: “There will be a combination of live bands and dj’s playing across four stages across the course of the weekend. To help generate as much revenue for the local area as possible, local food vendors will be utilised and the bar will feature local ales and beers.”

Mr Worley added that a specialist noise management company was being hired to monitor levels and that a helpline number will be available during the festival with complaints investigated and alterations made if necessary.

He stated that there would be a drop in volume at 11pm and 1am “to reduce the likelihood of getting any noise complaints.”

Hubberston Girls exhibition launches new space at Waterfront Gallery

A NEW exhibition exploring memories of growing up on a council estate has opened at the Waterfront Gallery in Milford Haven.

Artist Lynn Stuart is launching the gallery’s new exhibition space with her solo show, Hubberston Girls, which runs until Saturday, May 30.

The exhibition features a deeply personal series of works drawn and painted on brown paper. The material was chosen for its connection to everyday memories, including lunch bags and magazines wrapped in paper.

Once oiled, the paper becomes semi-transparent, allowing paint to be applied to the reverse and creating layered, intimate images.

The Waterfront Gallery is extending its opening hours for the exhibition and will be open Monday to Saturday, from 10:30am to 4:00pm.

A private view will be held on Thursday, May 14, from 3:00pm to 6:00pm, and all are welcome.

The gallery is based in the Old Sail Loft on Discovery Quay, Milford Waterfront, Milford Haven. It is one of south west Wales’s leading art galleries, a registered charity, and home to the Wales Contemporary annual competition.

The gallery is run by artist volunteers who exhibit there regularly.

Dinosaur adventure stomps into Milford Haven

A FAMILY dinosaur show 65 million years in the making is heading to Milford Haven this summer.

Dinosaur Adventure Live: Danger on T-Rex Mountain will headline the Torch Theatre on Thursday, July 30.

The interactive stage show promises storytelling, puppetry, humour and science as young audiences join a team of rangers on a mission to recover a data crystal, restore power to the island and save the dinosaurs.

Children will be encouraged to stomp, roar and swish their tails as they meet baby dinosaurs, learn “Dino-Facts” and come face-to-face with a roaring T-Rex.

Created by Mike Newman, the producer behind Exciting Science, the show is now in its fifth year and is aimed at families with children aged four and over.

The performance lasts one hour, with no interval, and there will be a meet-and-greet after the show.

Tickets are available from the Torch Theatre.

Haverfoodfest returns to Haverfordwest town centre today

HAVERFORDWEST town centre is expected to be busy today as Haverfoodfest 2026 returns for a full day of food, drink, music and family entertainment.

The popular food and drink festival is taking place today, Saturday, May 2, from 10:00am until 4:00pm, with free entry.

This year’s event is being promoted as “the big one”, with artisan produce, street food stalls, busker stops and live entertainment planned across the centre of town.

Organisers say high-quality food and drink stallholders from Wales will be based around Quay Street, Castle Square, the Old Bridge and Riverside, with tasters and special offers available throughout the day.

Among the stalls listed for this year’s festival are local and Welsh food producers, hot food traders, sweet treats, drinks, cheese, chocolate, vegan food, crêpes, barbecue and other artisan produce.

The event is also set to include music, choirs, buskers, free face painting and family activities, helping to bring a festival atmosphere to the county town.

Haverfoodfest has become one of Haverfordwest’s best-known town centre events, drawing visitors into local streets and supporting existing shops, cafés, pubs and businesses.

The festival website says: “Haverfoodfest is back on May 2nd 2026 with high-quality food and drink stallholders from Wales on Quay Street, Castle Square, The Old Bridge and Riverside with lots of tasters and offers of great food and drink.”

Visitors are being encouraged to head into town during the day, enjoy the stalls and entertainment, and support local traders.
