Restraining order for threats to sister
A WOMAN has been forbidden from seeing her sister for two years after Haverfordwest Magistrates issued a restraining order against her.
Rhiannon Morris, aged 19, of Y Gwelfor, pleaded guilty to using threatening words and behaviour and threatening to damage or destroy property.
The court was told that Morris made numerous threats to her sister including one to grab hold of the steering wheel whilst her sister was driving.
Prosecuting, Nick Newton said: “At 4:30pm on December 29, Morris’ sister attended at an address in Fishguard to collect her. They then drove to a nearby supermarket but Morris demanded that she be taken to her mother’s address and said: ‘You’re going to drive me otherwise I’m going to hurt you’. Her sister was aware that this wasn’t the first time a threat had been made and she agreed to drive her there. Whilst on the way Morris made more threats saying: ‘All I have to do is grab the steering wheel whilst you are driving, I want you dead’. Morris then put her hand out towards the wheel causing her sister to break sharply in order to avoid a crash. She made another threat saying that she wanted to be taken to Pembroke Dock and she said: ‘take me or I’ll smash your car. If you don’t do this there is a nice brick on top of the wheelie bin’. Her sister then phoned the police and the officer could hear that she was distressed. She does have previous convictions for violence and the latest of those was for an affray in December 2014 which relates to her threatening to stab her mother with a knife.”
Defending, Matt Greenish opposed the application for a restraining order made by the crown saying that this was a one off incident.
For the offence Morris was given an 18-month community order with the requirement of supervision and 50 hours of unpaid work.
A restraining order was also issued which will stand for two years which forbids her from contacting her sister and going to her mother’s address in Puncheston.
Morris will also have to pay £85 in court costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
