WITH the season entering its final stretch, the Division Two title race is heating up. Narberth remain the team to beat, sitting comfortably at the top with 47 points from 18 games, while Hakin United Reserves and Fishguard Sports continue their pursuit.

Can anyone stop Narberth?

Narberth’s dominance has been undeniable, winning 15 of their 18 matches with an impressive +59 goal difference. With just four games remaining, they are in pole position for the title, but any slip-ups could open the door for their challengers.

Fishguard Sports, with two games in hand, sit on 39 points. Wins in both would put them just two points behind the leaders, making their upcoming fixtures crucial. Hakin United Reserves (40 points) are also in the mix but have played the same number of games as Narberth, meaning they would need a near-perfect run to stay in contention.

Promotion battle heats up

With the top two teams likely earning promotion, the fight for second place remains fierce. Fishguard Sports have a chance to leapfrog Hakin United Reserves, while Merlins Bridge II (33 points) and Camrose (31 points) will need a strong finish if they are to break into the top two.

Mid-table tussle

Neyland (27 points) and Johnston (25 points) are battling for position in the upper half of the table. Johnston, with games in hand, could push further up if they put together a strong run. Solva (18 points) are clear of the relegation zone but have struggled for consistency.

Relegation battle

Broad Haven (4 points) remain winless after 17 matches and look destined for the drop. Lawrenny (11 points) and Monkton Swifts Reserves (13 points) are also in trouble, with Carew Reserves (15 points) only slightly better off. All three will need a strong finish to avoid finishing in the bottom two.

Merlins Bridge 1 – Pennar Robins 4

PENNAR Robins capitalized on their chances to secure a convincing 4-1 victory over Merlins Bridge at the Pembrokeshire Sports Village. Despite an entertaining contest, the home side struggled to convert their opportunities, while Pennar were ruthless in front of goal.

The visitors struck first in the 16th minute when Jamie Wilkes latched onto Nick Willis’ through ball and expertly lobbed goalkeeper James Dickson. Merlins Bridge responded just before halftime as Josh Thomas weaved through the defence and finished into the far corner.

However, Pennar quickly regained the lead on the stroke of halftime when Cameron Brunton’s cross was met by Ben Adams, whose volley deflected off Dickson and into the net.

Merlins Bridge pushed for an equaliser early in the second half, with Jordan Thomas heading against the crossbar, but Pennar took control in the 67th minute as Adams capitalized on a poor back pass to round Dickson and tap into an empty net. Wilkes sealed the victory in the 89th minute, running onto Liam Williams’ pass to complete his brace.

Cope inspires Kilgetty to victory over Herbrandston

Herbrandston 0 – Kilgetty 4

KILGETTY captain Richard Cope led by example, scoring twice in a dominant 4-0 victory over Herbrandston. The visitors found the net twice in each half to secure their seventh win of the season, while Herbrandston remain without a point.

Cope opened the scoring in the 28th minute before Lloyd Hughes doubled Kilgetty’s lead just before the break. The visitors remained in control after halftime, with Cope grabbing his second soon after the restart. Jordan Gorman then made it 4-0 in the 56th minute, drilling home to cap off an impressive display.

Despite the scoreline, Herbrandston battled well in the final half-hour, but Kilgetty’s win moves them six points clear of the relegation zone.

Goodwick see off determined Clarbeston Road

Goodwick United 3 – Clarbeston Road 1

TITLE-chasing Goodwick United continued their strong campaign with a 3-1 win over a determined Clarbeston Road at Phoenix Park.

Jonny Horgan gave Goodwick the lead in the 29th minute, finishing clinically after good work from Scott Delaney and Alex Thomas. The hosts extended their advantage in the 59th minute when Rhys Jones was fouled inside the box, allowing Thomas to convert from the penalty spot.

Clarbeston Road pulled a goal back in the 73rd minute through Jamie Griffiths, who fired home after a scramble in the box, but Goodwick restored their two-goal cushion just five minutes later. Delaney’s curling effort from 20 yards found the top corner to seal the points for the home side.

The win keeps Goodwick in the hunt for the title, while Clarbeston Road remain in mid-table, showing resilience despite the defeat.

St Davids Extend Winning Streak

St Davids 17 – Teirw Crymych 0

ST DAVIDS secured their fourth consecutive victory with a dominant 17-0 win over Teirw Crymych. Playing in challenging conditions, the home side used their set-piece superiority to control the contest.

Centre Harvey Lavin opened the scoring in the first half, finishing off a well-crafted move orchestrated by captain Nathan Foster and centre George Raymond. Bob Froy added the conversion, giving St Davids a 7-0 lead at the break.

After halftime, full-back Mike Gurney extended the advantage with a penalty. Teirw Crymych had a chance to close the gap, but fly-half Nick Bevan missed a penalty attempt. The visitors enjoyed a strong spell but were undone by errors at crucial moments.

St Davids sealed the win when outside half Ben Joyce kicked a penalty to the corner, setting up a try for hooker Rhys Price. Crymych had a late opportunity to score, but a knock-on near the try line ended their hopes.

Pembroke Retain Palmer Cup

Pembroke 42 – Llangwm 21

Pembroke retained the Palmer Cup with a commanding 42-21 victory over Llangwm. Having won the first leg by five points, Pembroke started aggressively, crossing for three tries within the opening ten minutes.

Llangwm fought back, narrowing the deficit to 20-6 at halftime. They briefly took a 21-20 lead in the second half while Pembroke were down to 13 men due to yellow cards.

However, Pembroke responded emphatically in the final stages, scoring several tries to pull away. Will Edwards scored the standout try of the match, with prop Dan Gosnold also adding his name to the scoresheet.

Neyland Run Riot Against Llanybydder

Neyland 60 – Llanybydder 12

League leaders Neyland delivered a dominant display, running in ten tries in a 60-12 demolition of Llanybydder. The home side established a 28-0 halftime lead before adding six more tries in the second period.

Ben Williams led the scoring with a hat-trick, while Owen Hamer crossed twice. Llanybydder managed two tries in the third quarter but struggled to contain Neyland’s relentless attack.

Narberth Athletic Gain Revenge Over Dreigiau Emlyn

Narberth Athletic avenged their early-season defeat to Dreigiau Emlyn with a convincing 39-11 victory. The hosts ran in six tries and restricted their opponents to just one in the second half.

Narberth took control with two first-half tries, while Dreigiau Emlyn replied with two penalties. After the break, Narberth’s defense held firm, and they finished strongly, scoring four more tries.
