Paul Miller still wants special meeting
PEMBROKESHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL’s Labour leader, Cllr Paul Miller, along with eight other County Councillors, has resubmitted their requests for an Extraordinary General Meeting.
In light of the damning report from the Wales Audit Office last week, Paul Miller’s letter to the chairman of the council, Cllr Arwyn Williams, is asking for the immediate suspension of embattled chief executive Bryn Parry-Jones.
Paul Miller had shelved his original request for a meeting until the outcome from the auditor was made public.
The Pembrokeshire Herald understands that the chairman of the council cannot stop the Extraordinary General Meeting from taking place as if he declines the request Hugh Miller (Head of Legal Services at the council) would be obliged to allow it to take place.
This may mean that there will be two meetings taking place in relation to the scandal: the meeting which much take place within 30 days of the report and the meeting requested by the labour leader.
Asked why he thinks why two meetings are necessary, Cllr Miller told The Herald: “I think that we need two meetings because the EGM is designed to remove Bryn Parry Jones as the chief executive pending an investigation, and the second meeting is designed to look at the wider issues as to how the Council got into this situation.”
Speaking to The Pembrokeshire Herald from his holiday in France, Cllr Paul Miller continued: “The EGM will be the quickest way to put a stop to these payments and to suspend the Chief Executive while a full and urgent investigation is carried out.”
“Given we are discussing the legality of the decision they made in 2011, the then members of the Senior Staff Committee should not be permitted to participate in these meetings. This is a view which is shared by IPPG Councillor Pearl Llewellyn, who also gave the same comment to the Pembrokeshire Herald on Wednesday.”

Mother admits to killing seven-year-old son in Haverfordwest
A mother has admitted to the manslaughter of her seven-year-old son at their home in Haverfordwest, citing diminished responsibility.
Papaipit Linse, 43, appeared at Swansea Crown Court on Friday (Nov 22), where she denied murder but pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with the death of her son, Louis Linse. Prosecutor Caroline Rees KC confirmed the manslaughter plea would be accepted, stating it “did not come as a surprise” to the prosecution.
The incident occurred on 10 January when police were called to a property on Upper Market Street. Louis was rushed to Withybush General Hospital but tragically died shortly afterwards.
During the hearing, Linse, who spoke only to confirm her name and enter her pleas, was informed that she would be sentenced on 13 December. Judge Paul Thomas KC described the case as “clearly a very sensitive as well as a very tragic case.”
The court was told that Linse is currently receiving treatment at the Caswell Clinic, a mental health facility in Bridgend. Psychiatric evidence is expected to be presented during the sentencing hearing to provide further insight into the circumstances surrounding the case.
