Villagers fight wind turbines application
RESIDENTS of the village of Angle have been contacting The Pembrokeshire Herald concerned about plans for the erection of five wind turbines on land owned by their local County Councillor.
Councillor John-Allen Mirehouse owns extensive land at Angle. Rhoscrowther Wind Farm Ltd has submitted a planning application for the erection of five 327.5 foot wind turbines on land owned by the IPPG member.
Local resident Keith Bradney spoke to The Herald saying: “I am strongly against this development because of the impact it will have on tourism. Tourism is the main industry in Pembrokeshire and we can’t afford to damage it. We have been offered a £5,000 ‘bribe’ by the developers which can be spent on the community on whatever we decide – but in my view even if it was £50,000 this would not be enough. Most people’s credit cards have more than £5,000 to spend on it.”
Mr Bradney, who says he has already formed a campaign committee of seven locals against the proposals, went on to say: “We have already got a petition going by asking everyone in the area on the electoral register. At present 84% of people are against this wind farm.”
Spokesperson for Pembrokeshire County Council, Ceri Jones, told The Herald: “We have received a planning application from Rhoscrowther Wind Farm Ltd for five wind turbines to be erected on land in Angle owned by Councillor John Allen-Mirehouse. The application is accompanied by an Environmental Statement. The application will be considered by Pembrokeshire County Council’s planning committee in due course.”
The directors of Rhoscrowther Wind Farm Ltd, which changed its name from Development Securities (No.72) Limited in January 2012, are currently registered as Michael Henry Marx, Matthew Simon Weiner, Marcus Owen Shepherd, Steven John Radford and Charles Julian Barwick. The last accounts of the company, made up to February 29, 2012 were dormant accounts.
The company structure and its directors suggests that Development Securities Plc, a major UK property investor and developer, is behind in the project. Development Securities’ investment portfolio includes Phones4U Arena and the Chorlton Cross Shopping Centre in Manchester amongst many others.

Mother admits to killing seven-year-old son in Haverfordwest
A mother has admitted to the manslaughter of her seven-year-old son at their home in Haverfordwest, citing diminished responsibility.
Papaipit Linse, 43, appeared at Swansea Crown Court on Friday (Nov 22), where she denied murder but pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with the death of her son, Louis Linse. Prosecutor Caroline Rees KC confirmed the manslaughter plea would be accepted, stating it “did not come as a surprise” to the prosecution.
The incident occurred on 10 January when police were called to a property on Upper Market Street. Louis was rushed to Withybush General Hospital but tragically died shortly afterwards.
During the hearing, Linse, who spoke only to confirm her name and enter her pleas, was informed that she would be sentenced on 13 December. Judge Paul Thomas KC described the case as “clearly a very sensitive as well as a very tragic case.”
The court was told that Linse is currently receiving treatment at the Caswell Clinic, a mental health facility in Bridgend. Psychiatric evidence is expected to be presented during the sentencing hearing to provide further insight into the circumstances surrounding the case.
