Narberth: Celebrated in The Sunday Times Best Places to Live 2024
THE CHARMING market town of Narberth has been recognised as one of Wales’ finest places to live, according to The Sunday Times Best Places to Live guide for 2024.
This prestigious accolade places Narberth alongside Abergavenny, Monmouthshire—the winner of the best place to live in Wales—and five other Welsh locations celebrated for their quality of life.
Narberth is distinguished for its vibrant high street, a hub of artisan creativity and community spirit. Unlike many towns facing the decline of local retail, Narberth thrives with an eclectic mix of delis, restaurants, and galleries.
This cultural vibrancy is matched by its practicality, offering essential services and a strong sense of community, making it a standout in The Sunday Times annual supplement.
The Sunday Times’ rigorous assessment process highlighted several factors contributing to Narberth’s appeal, including access to green spaces, the health of the high street, broadband speeds, and cultural offerings.
The town’s success in balancing an upmarket feel with practical living solutions underscores its inclusion in the guide.
Helen Davies, editor of The Times and The Sunday Times Home section, emphasised the guide’s focus on locations that offer a comprehensive quality of life.
Narberth exemplifies this, with its combination of a thriving arts scene, strong community initiatives, and proximity to the magnificent Pembrokeshire coast.
The accolade is part of a broader exploration of 72 locations across the UK, identified for their exceptional living conditions.
The Sunday Times Best Places to Live guide, sponsored by Halifax, provides invaluable insights into average house prices, community spirit, and environmental considerations, serving as a key resource for those considering relocation.
Narberth’s feature in this esteemed guide is a testament to the town’s unique charm and the concerted efforts of its residents to maintain a lively, supportive, and culturally rich community.
It stands as a beacon for what makes Pembrokeshire not just a place to visit, but a place to call home.
This recognition from The Sunday Times underscores the enduring appeal of Narberth and its status as a jewel in the crown of Pembrokeshire, celebrating the town’s successful blend of historical charm, modern living, and community cohesion.
As the guide reaches its readers, both locally and nationally, Narberth is poised to welcome those looking to find a home in one of Wales’ most beloved towns.

Community gathers to remember Corrina Baker
Lanterns and balloons released in emotional acts of remembrance
FAMILY, friends and members of the local community came together to remember Corrina Baker at a series of moving events held across west Wales this week.
Corrina’s funeral took place on Monday (Dec 15), a month after her death, with a public service held at St Mary’s Church. Mourners lined the route as her coffin was carried on its final journey in an elegant horse-drawn carriage, before a private cremation later took place at Parc Gwyn crematorium in Narberth.

Later that evening, shortly after 6:00pm, friends and relatives gathered at the Quayside in Cardigan for the first of two acts of remembrance to celebrate her life. Lanterns were lit and released into the night sky above the town as some of Corrina’s favourite songs were played.

On Tuesday afternoon (Dec 16), a second tribute was held near the location where Corrina was found. Twenty-one pink balloons — one for each year of her life — were released into a clear blue sky, each carrying personal messages in her memory.
Floral tributes continue to be laid at the Netpool, while a GoFundMe appeal set up in Corrina’s memory has raised more than £2,300. She has been described by those who knew her as “funny and bright”.
Dyfed-Powys Police have confirmed that their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ms Baker’s death is ongoing. A 29-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail while inquiries continue.
