Heavy police presence in Milford linked to Haverfordwest assault
POLICE have confirmed to The Pembrokeshire Herald that a significant police presence in Milford Haven from Wednesday into Thursday was connected to an ongoing assault investigation in Haverfordwest, resulting in the arrest of a 23-year-old man.
Residents in Milford Haven reported armed police on Picton Road from around 2.53pm on Wednesday. The road was closed at the junctions with Milford Haven RFC and Observatory Avenue, with drones observed flying over the area and officers entering several flats.
The Herald understands that two police officers remained at a property in the area overnight, from Wednesday, May 22 into Thursday, May 23.
Dyfed-Powys Police have verified that this operation was part of the same investigation that saw armed officers and police presence in Market Street, Haverfordwest, earlier on Wednesday.

Market Street in Haverfordwest was closed around 6.40pm, with witnesses reporting armed police, a dog team, and police vans in the vicinity.
Yesterday, police confirmed that a 23-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of assault. He has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Driver wasn’t aware he was over the cannabis drug-drive limit
A MILFORD HAVEN motorist has been banned from driving after being caught travelling ‘at speed’ along Dale Road, Haverfordwest, after consuming cannabis.
John Lewis, 30, was followed by police officers as he travelled along the Dale Road on June 24, 2024.
“The officers believed the car was travelling at speed, and when they spoke to the driver, who was identified as the defendant, he said he’d taken cannabis the evening before,” said Crown Prosecutor Sian Vaughan when Lewis appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates this week.
Blood tests carried out at the police station confirmed the defendant had 3.7 mcg of Delta 9 tetrahydrocannabinol in his system. The prescribed legal limit is 2.
Lewis, of Coombs Drive, Milford Haven, pleaded guilty to driving over the legal drugs limit. He was represented in court by solicitor Tom Lloyd.
“If he had been aware that he was over the limit that day, he’d never have driven,” he said.
Lewis, who has no previous convictions, was disqualified from driving for 12 months. He was fined £300 and ordered to pay a £120 court surcharge and £85 costs.
