Minister celebrates 20 years of Frame

MINISTER for Disabled People, Mike Penning MP, celebrated 20 years of Frame this week by visiting the hugely successful employer.

Frame leads the way in providing employment for those with disabilities, and now has an annual turnover of over £1million. The company was started in Johnston in 1994 and has expanded to Haverfordwest. Of its 44 paid staff, 65% are registered with a disability, and they have a ‘helper’ staff of over 200, and there are plans to take the model to Cardiff. The Minister told The Herald that he would be sending out a pack to show how employers can have confidence employing those with a disability, saying: “This area of hidden disability, is the hardest area to break through. I have seen similar operations, but nothing like this. Everyone has dreams and aspirations, it’s about giving people an opportunity. They (Frame) can share their successes all over the world. It’s everything you would want in a community spirit.” Whilst on his visit he met staff and employees of Frame, celebrating the success of this Pembrokeshire business. Stephen Crabb MP said: “Over the last 20 years Frame has been recognised nationally as an example of a social enterprise employing people with a wide range of disabilities. With the Disability Minister visiting Wales, I was particularly keen he came down to meet with Frame and see just what could be achieved by an organisation like this, with excellent leadership under Jenny Simms and a superb team of volunteers and staff. There are so many success stories within this organisation of people whose lives have been changed by the work of Frame. It is an organisation that everyone in Pembrokeshire should feel proud of.”

Council warns of icy conditions as temperatures drop

ROAD users in Pembrokeshire are being urged to exercise caution tonight as temperatures are forecast to dip below freezing.

Pembrokeshire County Council has announced that road surface temperatures could reach as low as -2°C, with the possibility of sleet or snow on higher ground. In response, precautionary salting of the county’s primary routes will be carried out this evening and overnight.

A spokesperson for the council said: “Road users are advised to take care if travelling on untreated roads.”

Motorists are reminded to plan ahead and drive carefully, particularly in areas that may not have been treated.

Stallholders wanted for Milford Haven Christmas Market

MILFORD HAVEN BUSINESS CIRCLE is calling for stallholders to join the town’s festive Christmas Market, set to bring holiday cheer on Friday, December 6, and Saturday, December 7, 2024.

The market will take place at the Lower Charles Street Car Park, promising a vibrant mix of stalls and attractions. Organizers are seeking a variety of vendors, including those offering gifts, children’s toys and games, food, cakes, flowers, and more.

There’s also an open invitation for someone with small children’s rides to add to the festive fun. A highlight of the event will be the Grinch’s Grotto, offering an entertaining twist to this year’s celebrations.
