Man admits drink-driving and careless driving in Haverfordwest
A MAN has been banned from the roads after admitting drink-driving and careless driving in Haverfordwest.
Andrew Ash, aged 33, of Spittal, appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (Jun 16).
The court heard that Ash was driving on Dale Road, Haverfordwest, when he was found to have exceeded the legal alcohol limit.
A breath test recorded 80 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Ash pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion in his breath exceeded the prescribed limit.
He also admitted driving without due care and attention.
The case was heard before magistrates Dr R Talbot-English, S Ley and A Smith.
Ash was disqualified from driving and sentenced by the court following his guilty pleas.
Financial penalties, including prosecution costs and a victim surcharge, were also imposed.
The court heard that the offence took place on a public road in Pembrokeshire, with the level of alcohol placing Ash at more than double the legal limit.

Drink-driver caught at more than three times legal limit
A MAN has been banned from the roads after admitting drink-driving at more than three times the legal alcohol limit.
Vaughan Beynon, aged 61, of Kilgetty, appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (Jun 16).
The court heard that Beynon was stopped while driving on a road in Pembrokeshire after police became concerned about the manner of his driving.
A roadside test later showed he had 111 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Beynon pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion in his breath exceeded the prescribed limit.
He also admitted driving without due care and attention.
The case was heard before magistrates Dr R Talbot-English, S Ley and A Smith.
Beynon was made subject to a community order and disqualified from driving for 26 months.
The court also imposed financial penalties, including prosecution costs and a victim surcharge.
Magistrates warned that the level of alcohol recorded placed him significantly over the legal limit and posed a serious risk to other road users.

Woman admits assaults on police officers during incident in Haverfordwest
A WOMAN has admitted a series of offences, including assaults on police officers, following an incident in Haverfordwest.
Danni Sandow, aged 22, of Johnston, appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (Jun 16).
The court heard that the charges arose from an incident at Bridge Meadow Lane, Haverfordwest.
Sandow admitted assaulting emergency workers acting in the exercise of their functions, including police officers attending the incident.
She also pleaded guilty to resisting or obstructing police in the execution of their duty.
The offences took place earlier this year and involved several officers.
The case was heard before magistrates Dr R Talbot-English, S Ley and A Smith.
The court adjourned the matter for sentencing to allow for the preparation of reports.
Sandow was granted bail pending the next hearing, subject to conditions.
She is due to appear again before Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on a date set by the court for sentencing.

Man sentenced over stalking campaign and lock knife offence
A MAN has been sentenced after admitting stalking a woman over several months and possessing a lock knife in public.
James Bevan, aged 53, of Haverfordwest, appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (Jun 16).
The court heard that between February and May this year, Bevan pursued a course of conduct amounting to stalking.
The behaviour included repeatedly sending messages, attending at a property without permission, refusing to leave when asked, and waiting outside the address.
Bevan also admitted possessing a lock knife in a public place in Haverfordwest on Monday, May 12, without lawful authority or reasonable excuse.
He pleaded guilty to stalking involving fear, alarm or substantial distress and to possession of a bladed article.
The case was heard before magistrates Dr R Talbot-English, S Ley and A Smith.
Bevan was made subject to a community order for 18 months.
As part of the sentence, he was ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work and up to 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days.
The court also imposed a restraining order prohibiting him from contacting the complainant directly or indirectly, attending her address, or entering a specified exclusion zone.
He was ordered to pay costs and a victim surcharge.
The magistrates warned that any breach of the order or restraining conditions could result in further action being taken by the court.
