Broad Haven seal Third Division Cup hat trick

BROAD Haven’s love affair with the Third Division Cup continued on Thursday (May 3), as they beat Milford Athletic 3-0 to win the Cup for the third successive year.

It was an even first half but Julian Wood put them ahead after half an hour and he then scored again just a minute after the restart before Johnny White’s stunning effort five minutes later all but sealed victory.

It was Milford who had the brighter start as Jack Daines saw a shot saved while Liam Clark also shot over.

Broad Haven came close when a ball was played in to Johnny White but he dragged his shot wide.

Clark and Daines then combined well but the latter saw his shot blocked wide for a corner.

Ian Harvey’s cross was then knocked on by Sam Barton and it fell kindly for Wood but he couldn’t make any contact with the ball and Milford cleared the danger.

With just under half an hour gone, Alan Llewellyn found space down the left to cross into the box for Barton who knocked the ball back across goal for Wood to tap into the net and give Broad Haven the lead.

It could have been two moments later as Josh Beer’s cross found Barton but his first time shot went wide.

Clark then came close for Milford as he turned well in the box but his volleyed effort was blocked on the line by Peter Thomas.

With half time approaching a ball was played through which was missed by the Milford defenders and Wood latched on to it but his lobbed effort went wide.

It remained 1-0 when the half time whistle went but any hopes Milford had of getting back into the match were dealt a blow just a minute into the second half.

The ball was played into the box and when it wasn’t cleared properly it fell to Wood who fired the ball into the top right corner to make it 2-0.

Five minutes later Broad Haven had their third goal as Llewellyn played the ball down the left for White who cut inside before firing an unstoppable shot past Milford keeper Jamie Bird.

Josh Beer was then sent through on goal but he poked his shot wide of the goal and moments later he had another chance but this time his effort was saved by the legs of Milford keeper.

Jamie Davies saw a late free kick go through everyone and just wide of the posts for Milford as they continued to look for a way back into the game.

Beer and White both had chances late on to add to the scoring but Bird was equal to them and the score stayed the same.

Broad Haven then saw the game out as they celebrated their third straight success in the competition.

This accolade highlights Seren’s exceptional skill and dedication to the sport, marking her as one of the rising stars in British shooting.

Her mother, Sian Thorne, expressed immense pride in Seren’s achievement, sharing photos of the memorable evening.

Previewing the 2025 Super Bowl

Each year millions of people across the world gather to watch one of the biggest sporting events of the year – the Super Bowl. Last year, 3.4 million people in the UK watched the Super Bowl, up 1.1 million from the previous year. Considering the growth in popularity of American football in the UK, we anticipate the viewership will be even higher for 2025.

The 2025 Super Bowl is scheduled to take place on 9 February 2025 at Caesars Superdrome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

NFL teams

12 teams began competing for a spot in the 2025 Super Bowl when the playoffs began on January 11. At this point, four teams were eliminated. This now leaves eight teams to compete in the Divisional playoffs. Four of these will make it to the Conference Championships before contesting for a spot at this year’s Super Bowl.

The eight teams left with a shot at competing in the 2025 Super Bowl are:

Baltimore Ravens
Buffalo Bills
Detroit Lions
Houston Texans
Kansas City Chiefs
Los Angeles Rams
Washington Commanders

Last year, the Kansas City Chiefs took the title for the second year in a row. However, the latest Super Bowl odds puts the Detroit Lions as the favourites to win this year’s Super Bowl, following a series of impressive performances in the regular season.

The national anthem and halftime show

Before the game commences, a special guest performs the national anthem. Last year, Reba McEntire offered a moving performance of The Star-Spangled Banner, and this year the task falls to jazz singer Jon Batiste.

It’s not just the football match that people look forward to. Super Bowl halftime shows are a spectacle in themselves and many look forward to the performance as much as the game itself. This year, 17-time grammy winner Kendrick Lamar is headlining the halftime show. Lamar previously headlined the Super Bowl in 2022.

The Super Bowl is being broadcast to fans free on ITV, including live online via ITVX on your laptop, mobile, or tablet.

Sky Sports is also broadcasting the event which you can watch online via Sky Go, NOW TV, or using the Sky Sports mobile app. You could also head to your local pub as plenty of pubs in Pembrokeshire will be showing the big game.
