Milford Haven: Battle of the Mount continues
ARMED POLICE were on the Mount Estate, Milford Haven, again in the early hours of Thursday morning (Jul 12) as officers arrested at least one male suspect in the night time operation which is seemingly part of an ongoing attempt by Dyfed-Powys Police to bring law and order to the embattled estate.
A Mount Estate resident living opposite where the arrest took place told the Herald: “I heard a series of bangs, which woke me up, I looked out of my window and I could see a man who had been pushed to the floor by armed officers.
“There was a lot of commotion, I was annoyed that I had been woken up as I had work early in the morning.
“It’s getting a bit ridiculous now. It seems like the police are there all the time.
“I know that police have got a job to do, but I feel like I am a prisoner living in cell block H on the Maze, not on the Mount in Milford Haven.”
Dyfed-Powys Police told the Herald: “Dyfed-Powys Police officers attended a domestic incident on the Mount Estate just before midnight on July 11.
“The suspect made off from the address.
“He was spotted by officers and safely detained.
“The 27-year-old man, from Hakin, was arrested on suspicion of assault by beating.
“He remains in police custody.”
The early hours operation followed an operation several weeks ago in which four residents were arrested.
During that raid, 16 police officers, including dog handlers, emerged from six vehicles and cordoned off a property at around 10.30pm, as up to 50 local residents stood by and watched.
After the area was secure, officers with guns drawn went up to the property and shouted: “Armed police, if you are in there open up!”
After no one answered the door, and with police dogs barking, other officers went around to the patio doors at the rear of the property and gained entry.
Shouts of ‘police don’t move!’ echoed over the council estate as neighbours watched in stunned silence.

Community gathers to remember Corrina Baker
Lanterns and balloons released in emotional acts of remembrance
FAMILY, friends and members of the local community came together to remember Corrina Baker at a series of moving events held across west Wales this week.
Corrina’s funeral took place on Monday (Dec 15), a month after her death, with a public service held at St Mary’s Church. Mourners lined the route as her coffin was carried on its final journey in an elegant horse-drawn carriage, before a private cremation later took place at Parc Gwyn crematorium in Narberth.

Later that evening, shortly after 6:00pm, friends and relatives gathered at the Quayside in Cardigan for the first of two acts of remembrance to celebrate her life. Lanterns were lit and released into the night sky above the town as some of Corrina’s favourite songs were played.

On Tuesday afternoon (Dec 16), a second tribute was held near the location where Corrina was found. Twenty-one pink balloons — one for each year of her life — were released into a clear blue sky, each carrying personal messages in her memory.
Floral tributes continue to be laid at the Netpool, while a GoFundMe appeal set up in Corrina’s memory has raised more than £2,300. She has been described by those who knew her as “funny and bright”.
Dyfed-Powys Police have confirmed that their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ms Baker’s death is ongoing. A 29-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail while inquiries continue.
