Neyland: Meeting for residents over new housing plans
A LOCAL councillor in Neyland is organsing a public meeting following plans being submitted for a large housing development in the town.
Pembrokeshire Housing have recently submitted a planning application for the former Infants School, Day Centre and Youth Club in Charles Street, Neyland. The move follows Pembrokeshire Council’s Cabinet declaring the site surplus to requirements last year.
Pembrokeshire Housing are planning on building 42 new housing units on the site and Cllr Paul Miller, Labour Leader and Councillor for Neyland West, has organised a public meeting for residents – 6:30pm Monday June 27 at Neyland Athletic Club, to allow the public to view the proposals and ask any questions they may have about the scheme.
In attendance will be Nigel Sinnett (Property Services Director at Pembrokeshire Housing Association) and Lyn Hambidge (Head of Housing at Pembrokeshire Council).
Cllr Miller said told The Herald: “Whilst I recognise that the site lying empty is in no one’s best interests I feel strongly that this key site in Neyland should be developed in partnership with local residents.
“I want to make sure everyone knows everything they feel they need to know about the proposals, understands the process from here and how they can influence things (for example by addressing the planning committee) and feels that they have had the opportunity to put questions directly to the people in charge.
“My job as the local Councillor is to make sure local peoples voices are heard and this public meeting is the first step in making sure they are.’
The meeting is open to any resident of Neyland and plans will be available to view during the meeting, The Herald has been told.

Community gathers to remember Corrina Baker
Lanterns and balloons released in emotional acts of remembrance
FAMILY, friends and members of the local community came together to remember Corrina Baker at a series of moving events held across west Wales this week.
Corrina’s funeral took place on Monday (Dec 15), a month after her death, with a public service held at St Mary’s Church. Mourners lined the route as her coffin was carried on its final journey in an elegant horse-drawn carriage, before a private cremation later took place at Parc Gwyn crematorium in Narberth.

Later that evening, shortly after 6:00pm, friends and relatives gathered at the Quayside in Cardigan for the first of two acts of remembrance to celebrate her life. Lanterns were lit and released into the night sky above the town as some of Corrina’s favourite songs were played.

On Tuesday afternoon (Dec 16), a second tribute was held near the location where Corrina was found. Twenty-one pink balloons — one for each year of her life — were released into a clear blue sky, each carrying personal messages in her memory.
Floral tributes continue to be laid at the Netpool, while a GoFundMe appeal set up in Corrina’s memory has raised more than £2,300. She has been described by those who knew her as “funny and bright”.
Dyfed-Powys Police have confirmed that their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ms Baker’s death is ongoing. A 29-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail while inquiries continue.

Well I do hope that pembrokeshire housing might attempt to allow people with a local conection to be housed first before moving people from outside the area into homes that will be built on land that is rapidly running out in the community

Be interesting to see if they are they going to offer them out to Neyland families that need bigger houses before giving them to people with no local connection.
