Port sponsors local powerboat champions
TWO local powerboat champions have secured sponsorship from the Port of Milford Haven as part of the £70m regeneration scheme, ‘Milford Waterfront’.
Brother and sister Daisy and Sam Coleman, of Saundersfoot, claimed the P1 Superstock National Championship in Bournemouth last month, and furthermore were the first team in the history of the series to podium at every event.
The achievement has been widely acknowledged given that neither Daisy nor Sam come from a boating background; co–pilot Daisy only took up boating four years ago when she was discharged from the Royal Artillery on medical grounds. She has since gone on to win the P1 Sports Personality of the Year.
The duo visited Milford Marina earlier in the summer as part of the marina’s 25th anniversary, making such an impression that they have now secured sponsorship from the Milford Waterfront development, which will include financial support for the upcoming season.
Sam said: “Coleman Racing are proud to partner with Milford Waterfront to showcase the wonderful facilities on a national and global scale. We are always looking to promote the best that Pembrokeshire, and Wales, has to offer.
“Having raced all over the UK, there are not many that come close to what we have on our door step here in Milford: excellent restaurants, marina facilities and a gateway to viewing the stunning Pembrokeshire coast from the water.
“We’ll be using Milford Waterfront as our base for training and testing throughout the winter, as well as hosting experience days in the coming year with a variety of boats and jet skis on show.”
Neil Jenkins, Destination Director at the Port of Milford Haven, said: “It’s fantastic to see the Colemans excelling in powerboat racing and we’re delighted to become proud sponsors of the team. The Milford Waterfront development will celebrate the exciting range of watersports available to people of all abilities and hopefully will produce even more champions from Pembrokeshire like Sam and Daisy.”
The Port of Milford Haven received a resolution to grant planning consent from Pembrokeshire County Council in 2015 for future development on the marina. It is hoped that this will create new and exciting attractions to revitalise the existing waterfront destination by adding a mix of local, regional and national brands within the leisure, retail, residential, office and dining sectors.
It is envisaged that as well as creating around 600 long-term jobs, it will provide a boost to the local economy through increasing local spending and an uplift in visitor numbers.

Tigers second division Cup Champions
In a thrilling Pembrokeshire Division Two Cup final under the floodlights of Bridge Meadow Stadium, fans witnessed an epic battle between Monkton Swifts reserves and Johnston. Despite Monkton Swifts reserves being touted as favorites, Johnston proved their mettle from the outset.
The game kicked off with a burst of energy as Johnston’s center half, Craig Bendall, seized an early opportunity to put his team ahead just ten minutes into the match. However, Monkton Swifts’ prolific Scotsman, Davis, swiftly responded with an equalizer, showcasing the resilience of the favourites.
The momentum shifted again when the dynamic duo of Alfie and Scott Crawford of Johnston orchestrated a beautifully executed goal, putting Johnston back in the lead at 2-1.
As the game progressed, Monkton Swifts brought in reinforcements, including Ben Steele, to regain control. Their efforts paid off when Jordan Kilby leveled the score at 2-2 with just under 20 minutes remaining.
But the Crawfords had other plans. Combining once more, Scott provided the assist for Alfie, who coolly finished to put Johnston ahead once again.
With time running out, Monkton Swifts launched a relentless onslaught in search of an equalizer. However, Johnston’s defense held firm, defying the odds to clinch the Division Two Cup title in a memorable victory.
The match showcased the passion and determination of both teams, with Johnston emerging as deserving champions in a fiercely contested final at Bridge Meadow Stadium.
