Fishguard: Woman says she woke up to find man fondling her
A JURY heard today (Jul 11) how a Fishguard woman awoke to find a man fondling her as she lay in bed.
Daniel James Tudor, aged 22, admitted being the man but told police he had been looking for a place to stay the night.
Tudor, of Glebe House, Winch Lane, Haverfordwest, denies indecent assault and has gone on trial at Swansea crown court.
Stephen Rees, prosecuting, said the woman had worked late in Fishguard on February 14 last year and a friend had walked her home. Before he left he ensured that all the windows and doors were closed.
Mr Rees said the woman was so tired she went bed fully clothed. But in the early hours she awoke to find a man shinning the light from a mobile telephone into her face and fondling her private parts over her clothing.
She was so startled, added Mr Rees, that she demanded to know ‘who the **** are you’ and knocked the telephone from his hand.
Tudor told her, “I’m Daniel. I have no-where else to stay.”
She ushered him downstairs and asked him how he had got into the house, and he indicated a lounge window.
After Tudor had left she sent a text message to a friend who telephoned the police.
After his arrest Tudor told officers he had been drinking in the Cambrian Inn, Fishguard, and had intended to sleep the night at a friend’s house.
But it became so late he thought he would try and stay at the woman’s house instead.
Tudor said he went upstairs and touched her arm to wake her and if he had touched her vagina it must have been accidentally.
“The prosecution say that on passing her house he broke in and molested her.
“It is fanciful to suggest that the touching and fondling could have been a mistake,” added Mr Rees.
The trial continues.

Community gathers to remember Corrina Baker
Lanterns and balloons released in emotional acts of remembrance
FAMILY, friends and members of the local community came together to remember Corrina Baker at a series of moving events held across west Wales this week.
Corrina’s funeral took place on Monday (Dec 15), a month after her death, with a public service held at St Mary’s Church. Mourners lined the route as her coffin was carried on its final journey in an elegant horse-drawn carriage, before a private cremation later took place at Parc Gwyn crematorium in Narberth.

Later that evening, shortly after 6:00pm, friends and relatives gathered at the Quayside in Cardigan for the first of two acts of remembrance to celebrate her life. Lanterns were lit and released into the night sky above the town as some of Corrina’s favourite songs were played.

On Tuesday afternoon (Dec 16), a second tribute was held near the location where Corrina was found. Twenty-one pink balloons — one for each year of her life — were released into a clear blue sky, each carrying personal messages in her memory.
Floral tributes continue to be laid at the Netpool, while a GoFundMe appeal set up in Corrina’s memory has raised more than £2,300. She has been described by those who knew her as “funny and bright”.
Dyfed-Powys Police have confirmed that their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ms Baker’s death is ongoing. A 29-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail while inquiries continue.
