Drunk asked police to take her away
A HAVERFORDWEST woman who was found drunk in a public place was fined £195 by local magistrates on Tuesday. Sian Marchant, aged 47, of Princess Royal Way, pleaded guilty to the charge. Prosecuting, Ellie Morgan said: “Police were called to an incident at Slade Park after a woman had phoned them to ask them to take her away. “On arrival at the park the officers could hear a groaning noise and found her lying down on the wet grass. There were empty bottles of vodka and wine by her side. “She was asked to stand up but she fell straight back down again and the officers had to help her to her feet. Her eyes were red and she smelt strongly of alcohol.” In court Marchant told the Magistrates: “I’m sorry for the trouble I have caused”.

Free family inflatable fun day coming to Haverfordwest this summer
HUNDREDS of local families are expected to flock to Withybush Showground this July as a huge free inflatable fun day promises bouncy castles, food, music and entertainment for children of all ages.
Organised by Pure West Radio in association with Haverfordwest Town Council, the “Free Family Inflatable Fun Day” will take place on Sunday, July 19, from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
The event will feature a wide range of inflatables, an under-fives play park, street food vendors, music and family entertainment throughout the day.
Organisers say the event is expected to be one of the biggest family attractions of the summer, but spaces for children will be limited.
Tickets released this week
Tickets will be released on Thursday, June 11 at 7:00pm and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Only 600 child spaces will be available, with families being encouraged to book quickly to avoid disappointment.
While entry to the event is free, organisers say a compulsory £1 donation per ticket will go towards supporting Milford Youth Matters, Pure West Radio’s Charity of the Year.
Supporting local young people
Milford Youth Matters provides support, activities and opportunities for young people in Pembrokeshire, and organisers hope the event will help raise both awareness and funds for the charity.
A spokesperson for Pure West Radio said the event aims to offer a fun, affordable day out for local families during the summer holidays, bringing the community together for a day of entertainment.
Families interested in attending are being urged to keep an eye on Pure West Radio’s social media channels for ticket release details.

Bird of Prey Centre secures £154,000 investment for new Carmarthenshire home
A NEW visitor attraction in Carmarthenshire has been backed by a £154,000 investment from the Development Bank of Wales.
The British Bird of Prey Centre, the UK’s only native bird of prey attraction, has used the funding to support its move from the National Botanic Garden of Wales to a purpose-built centre at a former equestrian site in Idole.
The investment, made through the Wales Tourism Investment Fund, has provided working capital during the redevelopment and helped create eight full-time jobs.
The new centre includes 20 aviaries, an indoor all-weather flying arena, a café, retail space, an interactive hub, parking and associated groundworks.
Visitors can see daily flying displays, with every bird on site flying free in the indoor arena. The centre also offers close-up experiences with British birds of prey.
The attraction has been designed to operate year-round and to be accessible to a wide range of visitors, including those with special educational needs, dementia, and hearing or visual impairments.
Future plans include soft play facilities, camping and glamping accommodation, and developing the centre as a wedding venue.
Emma Hill, Director at the British Bird of Prey Centre, said: “As a tourism business, high-street banks didn’t have the appetite to invest in us at the point we were looking to grow.
“The support from the Development Bank gave us the investment we needed to move forward and establish a centre that really reflects who we are.
“Moving has allowed us to develop our own identity as a visitor attraction, while continuing to deliver high-quality experiences every day.
“The new centre gives us the space and facilities to grow, welcome more visitors and play a stronger role in the local tourism economy.”
Donna Williams, Senior Portfolio Executive at the Development Bank of Wales, said: “The British Bird of Prey Centre is an excellent example of a tourism business with a distinctive offer and clear growth plans.
“This investment has supported the creation of a high-quality visitor attraction that will draw people into the area, support local supply chains and create well-paid jobs.”
