Christmas Jumper Day for dogs launched
CHRISTMAS JUMPER DAY has established itself as a normal part of the annual festive build up, however this year dogs will be included as well. The Oak Vets has teamed up with local charity Greenacres Animal Rescue and national charity The Dogs Trust to encourage pet owners to have fun with their pets this Christmas, whilst also helping those pets who don’t have a special family of their own.
Practice manager at The Oak Vets said, ‘We are hoping that dog owners will join together on Friday December 16th and wear their Christmas jumpers with their dogs to help raise money and awareness over the festive period.’ He continued, ‘We are hoping that dog owners will donate just £1 each, or more if they can afford it, when they pop each jumper on and maybe spare a thought for the animals that are cared for at Greenacres or by the Dogs Trust.’
The Oak Vets are currently taking orders for Christmas Jumpers for Dogs as stocks of the jumpers are currently quite limited, in the hope that anyone who wants to join in can.
Lee continued, ‘On Christmas Jumper Day for dogs, we are planning on getting hundreds of photos of dogs in their festive finest, on our Facebook and Twitter pages so we can show everyone how much Pembrokeshire pet owners love their pets – we can’t wait.’
Jumpers for dogs are available through the Oak Vets Facebook page @oakvetgroup or call in to any of their sites at Well Hill Haverfordwest, Clarbeston road, Manorowen nr Fishguard or High st St Davids. You can donate directly to Greenacres through their website http://www.greenacresrescue.org.uk/donating or to the Dogs Trust https://www.dogstrust.org.uk/

Mother admits to killing seven-year-old son in Haverfordwest
A mother has admitted to the manslaughter of her seven-year-old son at their home in Haverfordwest, citing diminished responsibility.
Papaipit Linse, 43, appeared at Swansea Crown Court on Friday (Nov 22), where she denied murder but pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with the death of her son, Louis Linse. Prosecutor Caroline Rees KC confirmed the manslaughter plea would be accepted, stating it “did not come as a surprise” to the prosecution.
The incident occurred on 10 January when police were called to a property on Upper Market Street. Louis was rushed to Withybush General Hospital but tragically died shortly afterwards.
During the hearing, Linse, who spoke only to confirm her name and enter her pleas, was informed that she would be sentenced on 13 December. Judge Paul Thomas KC described the case as “clearly a very sensitive as well as a very tragic case.”
The court was told that Linse is currently receiving treatment at the Caswell Clinic, a mental health facility in Bridgend. Psychiatric evidence is expected to be presented during the sentencing hearing to provide further insight into the circumstances surrounding the case.
