GOODWICK UNITED eased past Milford United on Thursday night as they ran out 7-0 winners with Steffan Williams scoring a hat trick.

The league leaders started the game well and could have gone ahead inside the first minute when Adam Raymond launched an audacious attempt from 50 yards but his effort bounced back off the bar.

They took the lead with ten minutes gone when Steven Dockerty played the ball through for Rhys Dalling and he shot into the bottom right corner of the net.

Dalling nearly had a second six minutes later when he intercepted a quick free kick from Milford’s Chris Davies but Dalling sent his shot over the bar.

With half an hour gone it was 2-0 to the visitors as a free kick from Adam Raymond was headed into his own net by Milford’s Ashley Mathias.

Dalling came close again but his curling shot from the edge of the box bounced back off the bar.

Goodwick then made it 3-0 when Wayne O’Sullivan headed Adam Raymond’s corner back across goal and Steffan Williams headed the ball in.

Just two minutes into the second half Goodwick made it 4-0 when Adam Raymond fired an excellent shot into the net from 20 yards.

It was five on the hour mark as Rob Morgans won the ball back before shooting low into the bottom right corner past Milford keeper Andrew Fairbairn.

Fairbairn was then in action again as he did well to keep out substitute Patrick Hughes’ shot.

With twelve minutes to go Goodwick won a free kick 25 yards out and Steffan Williams curled the ball over the wall and into the net.

He completed his hat-trick just a minute later when Darren Devonald crossed into the box and he headed the ball down and in off the post.

Milford threatened a late consolation when an Ashley Mathias corner was sent in but William Goodall’s header was blocked.

Goodwick saw out the remaining minutes for an impressive win which keeps them five points clear at the top of the table.

On Saturday, April 16, they play away at Angle before midweek games against Herbrandston on Tuesday and title rivals Hakin United on Thursday.

Elsewhere on Thursday, Hakin’s Nicky Woodrow took his tally of goals in the league to 20 as he scored twice in Hakin’s 4-0 win over Herbrandston with Ashley Bevan and Adam Davies grabbing the other goals.

Merlins Bridge won 2-1 over Tenby at the Racecourse with Lee Hudgell and Matthew D’Ivry getting the goals.
